3 Year Anniversary...
Today marks exactly 3 years since we closed on our home in The Villages!
I've met so many nice people, played more golf than I expected (when I'm down there) and made some wonderful friends... Now that I've finally sold my practice, I hope to spend even more time in my southern home as we prepare to make FL our primary residence... I can't believe how the time has flown by... |

We've been permanent here just over three years... time does fly. |
Congrats on your anniversary milestone
|
If you would have given us a weeks notice would have baked you a cake.
Happy anniversary |
I'm around my 1 year anniversary, I made the offer for the house February 3rd, it was accepted the next day, & then the 40 day countdown to closing.

Congratulations! Happy Anniversary… living the dream!

Are you going to do side gigs? These hard cement pickleball courts do a number on your feet.

But I doubt I'll renew it this year... I'm done... |
This April 15th will be our 19 year anniversary. We have loved living here and think it has added years to our lives. We also have met so many great people and have enjoyed all of the activities and things to do....and of course my husband loves playing golf. So happy we made the move years ago.

10,000 posts in 3 years while you still worked?!! Can't imagine how much more time you'll spend on TOTV now!!!

I'll let him answer, but my guess is: he's been posting from 'up north' because he wishes he were here. Once here full time (he still has the better part of a year to go), he'll be busy being retired & we might not see as much of him. Plus, once here, he won't miss it :MOJE_whot: |

We’ve been here 14 years and still say it was the best decision we ever made. |

We've never been snowbirds, or snowflakes, so I can't imagine not being here full time. Been here a little over 3 years now, and don't want to be anywhere else. Plus, I agree with the previous poster that you'll probably spend a lot less time on this forum once you're here full time. It is so much better being here year round, rather than living vicariously thru TOTV.

Time does fly. Goes even faster in retirement. Gotta enjoy every day. Sounds like you are doing it right.

Nice to see positive posts on here. I think the vast majority share your joy. |

Congrats on 3 yrs and being "done"! Just over 3 myself.

Those questioning my time management are interesting...
For those who care, since Covid, my pt load has dropped and I'm only working from 7:30 to 12:30, 4-5 days/week... |
10 Years!
The scarey part is it's coming up on 10 years full time and it still seems like last week.
Welcome home! |

It's been 15 yrs this past week since we put our plan in place and found the house, didn't move til later. We'll not be the "typical" villager as we won't move again, unless to a care-center or in a box. We told each other we'd not go back north neither (in winter) unless an extreme emergency. Tried on being snow-birds the 1st year but quickly decided that life-style wasn't for us. The rest is history and we love it here. Best wishes OP on your retirement and move here full-time. Seems I've seen your posts for longer than 3 yrs though. Question----what type of practice did you own?

Is "chiropodist" just an archaic term for "podiatrist"? |

Chiropodist originally came from "hands & feet", as they treated both. Not so much anymore... |

An Ophthalmologist I knew some years back was anticipating retirement for several years before the Big Day. As I recall his plans involved woodworking and fishing. Didn't go precisely as planned though: following retirement he became involved with "Doctors Without Borders" (as I recall--maybe it had a different name) and had gotten himself into some trouble smuggling used eyeglasses INTO Venezuela. Quite the guy. |

Funny, just last week, a patient was commenting about all of the changes in the office since the sale. I said, you've been coming to see me forever, how long has it been? She replied she remembered when I first joined the practice 36 years ago... I was shocked, as I had no idea I still had patients from that long ago (as my patients tend to skew to an older demographic)... I think she's officially my longest continual patient... Mind blown... |
