Pizza

We are in Sable Chase for the next 6 months. Can anyone suggest a good take-out or eat-in pizza place? We went to Cici's our first night here but the buffet didn't satisfy. It was good but not the pizza we wanted.

logdog 01-02-2011 04:42 PM

CiCi is the worst pizza place I've been to.

Papa John's just opened in the Best Buy shopping center and they have an opening special of a large 7 topping or specialty pizza for $10. We did a carry out Friday and plan to finish it tonight. They also deliver for an additional charge. Unfortunately, they are not golf cart friendly but it is a pretty good pizza.

Snappy Tomato has a good pizza and they are golf cart friendly. They also deliver and have coupons for free beer, dollars off, etc in the papers. They are in La Plaza Grande shopping center.

You'll find a lot of opinions and recommendations on this forum but those two are our current favorites.

We like the pizza at Carraba's (Rolling Acres Road plaza). Its thin and crispy.

kb8tpw 01-02-2011 06:21 PM

Have heard that our own Cane Garden CC has very good pizza. Went there tonight and had intended to check a pizza out, but got interested in other things. It looked as if the pizza maker weas keeping busy.....

Ohiogirl 01-02-2011 08:40 PM

golf partners told us to try the pizza at Mallory Hill CC, they thought it was great - very close to Sabal Chase and they said they saw people picking it up also in "to go" boxes.

Pizza

We like the pizza at Cane Gardens 'cause it is thin and crispy. My personal favourite is the lobster pizza and my husband likes the greek. We also liked the ones at Giovanni's at Southern Trace. Eating out is one of our most favourite TV activities. There are so many choices. Have fun searching for your favourites.

Pizza

Bravo Pizza in Lake Sumter Landing is pretty good.

graciegirl 01-03-2011 10:25 AM

Donatos, a LARGE chain in the middle part of the country, would make a killing in TV especially if they could deliver...is that hard to do, what with the gates? I imagine the gates would be no problem, but so far in almost three years, we haven't figured out who delivers and who is good. This is a great thead.

The best pizza is the one from your home town.

llaran 01-03-2011 12:52 PM

The pizza at Mallory is a little larger than Cane Garden and we split it. We also like the pizza at Continental country Club on 44 - take Buena Vista to 44 and tuen left for about a mile, CCC is on the right. they also have a new chef with international training.

Vinny 01-03-2011 02:57 PM

We trek to Pauly's in Spanish Springs. The closest to our normal NY style pizza we have found so far. Even my fussy NY 9 year old niece liked it. :)

Debfrommaine 01-03-2011 06:17 PM

Ditto on CiCi's pizza, ugh.......:grumpy:

Doreen 01-03-2011 07:24 PM

When we moved here we were told that there were no good pizza places-well, we think that Bravo is pretty darn close to what we were getting in MA. Have been there several times and really like it . We also tried Giovani's and like their pizza too.

Sounds like a nice nite out for pizza. How far of a drive is it from Hadley? :icon_hungry:

logdog 01-05-2011 03:12 PM

I forgot about Cane's pizza. It is good - as is everything else on their menu.

Stopped by Bravo today and picked up a slice to go. First time I've had their pizza in a while and it was better than I remembered. I really recommend Bravo's sausage stromboli with the side of marinara.

youngretiree 02-02-2011 06:07 AM

Just a week ago I tried the pizza at that Italian place in Lake Sumter Landing Square. It may be called Red Sauce? It is on the corner kinda across the street from Hagan Daas. ANYHOO, it was to die for!!! It was larger than most single pizzas and could easily serve two hardy appetites. I got the Italian Sausage & it and my coffee were awesome.

Sherman931 02-02-2011 08:05 AM

Bravo.....best pizza in the area IMHO.

jblum8156 02-02-2011 08:34 AM

You must try the lobster pizza at Cane Garden. It sounds odd, but it has chunks of lobster and fresh tomato, good cheese and crispy crust. Better order two, they're small.

I heard (unverified), that the Pauly's Pizza in Mulberry closed and has some association with the Toscano Deli that is scheduled to open there soon....

Ci Ci Pizza at Colony Plaza Worst pizza ever.

lightworker888 02-02-2011 10:30 AM

I second the suggestion of Cane Gardens lobster pizza.

and it's on a terrific thin crust. My DH had the Greek pizza with the black olives and thought it too was great. Also liked the pizza at Giovanni's as a close second. Bon Appetit!

I also like the pizza at Red Sauce. It's a pretty good size.

They just started renovations. Probably open in the spring. Can't wait. I want my pizza.

Zhenya 02-02-2011 02:33 PM

Pauly's at the Palm Ridge Plaza is good too and they deliver anywhere in The Villages.

JenAjd 02-02-2011 02:46 PM

We liked the pizza at Papa John's across Rolling Acres next to 5 Guys Hamburgers. Giovanni's in Southern Trace also has good pizza.

I had Ci Ci's Pizza the other day and I liked it... dispite my being 100% Italian and having been brought up on homemade pizza. The crust was exactly like I like it... not crispy... not doughey, but I thought the toppings could have been a little more though.

Would I say that their pizza is the best? No! But I'm a far cry away from saying it's the worst. Like many things in life, people's taste and their opinions on food is just as diverse as their political opinions. I'll definitely have their pizza again sometime!

If a New Yorker likes the Pizza it's got to be out of this world!
I live in Memphis now and the only good pizza here is if it has bbq on it!

We find Costco pizza to be good so you know what I'm looking to eat when I come home...

nitakk 02-02-2011 03:50 PM

If you want to head out of town a little, go up the 441 to Belleview and try Belleview Pizza or Pasta Faire - personally, I love Pasta Faire's pizza, especially on Wednesday when it's 2 for 1! True Villager looks for the bargains!!

woody 02-25-2011 04:00 PM

Giovannis in Southern Trace is excellent!!

REDCART 02-26-2011 11:58 AM

We tried Stavros "special" pizza during the week. (Stavros is on the North side of 27\441 in Fruitland Park.) The crust was just ok, not great, but half the price of Bravo's Pizza. IMHO, pizza in this area is probably best eaten out of the oven, and suffers from traveling home in a box. Even Bravo's which has become a pizza standard for many in TV, is best eaten there.

Forget about it!, you can take a frozen or Pizza from Sams Club, thin crust I prefer, I bought one of those long electric griddles some time ago, I put the pizza on the griddle turned up to 350 degrees to brown and crisp up the bottom, decorate it with extra cheese, mushrooms etc, then put it into the oven, I guarantee its one of the best Pizzas you will ever taste! Browning and crisping up the bottom is the secret.:MOJE_whot:

Taki's Pizza restaurant in Leesburg

Taki's has great pizza with fresh ingredients. They make a wonderful thin & crispy pizza if you ask for it. Their calzones and strombolis are enormous and delicious too. On a side note, I love their marsala dinners as well. Really worth a look if you haven't tried it.
