Metal hanging sign

I have seen a lot of the homes with a sign hanging from the lamp post in the driveway. I would like to have one of these completed for my/ new home. Can someone tell me where to get these done?

Go to market night at the square. Vendors there have them.

There are several local businesses that make these signs. Google: lamp post signs the villages fl

& many vendors & styles will appear.

We got ours here:
Custom Signs | Wildwood, FL - SIGNS by Jackie
But we had a $50 gift certificate given to us by the Villages Real Estate rep when we bought our house. I don't know if any other companies offer better or for lower cost. Our sign was made perfectly, and I think it's acrylic, not metal. Warning: make sure you remove these signs when there's a hurricane warning. They're thin enough to be deadly if they fly around in the wind.

villagetinker 02-27-2024 08:20 PM

OP, if you just want a sign the above suggestions are good if you want a LIGHTED sign then you want Signs by Jackie, ours is several years old and working perfectly.

Drive by the homes again at night. Can you read the signs easily? If not, the signs would not do you much good if an ambulance is looking for your house at night.

For that reason, we got a lighted sign.

Our real estate agent gave us a coupon for one.

Got mine at Jackie's, I believe a family business connected to the T V family business.

Hit or miss on friendly customer service. Was there twice with my parents (who couldn't be any sweeter to deal with, they are not like me lol) to order and pick up their sign. BOTH times we received quite the "spoiled" attitude from the woman who takes orders who was, unless someone else was in her chair, Jackie.

Both times we received the old we don't need to be nice, we have a guarenteed business success thing going on. Take our attitude or leave it - kinda treatment. Totally uncalled for.

We went in as excited Villages "newbees" in the friendliest town bubble the first time and came out quite frustrated by the experience of placing the order. We did give her the grace of maybe it was just a "bad day."

The second trip in, NO... pure and simple rudeness! My parents were rattled and that says a lot!! It was then that I remembered Jackie's isn't located in the friendliest town bubble, she just has guarenteed profits off the bubble.

Based on our expierence it became evident that when living in T V "friendliest town" to also look at non-nepotism businesses as well. The UPS store offers custom signs too. If or when mine breaks I will not be back to Jackie's to replace it.

We bought our sign from Jackie’s. We really like the way it looks.

Search on Amazon and eBay for "Personalized metal house signs".

The signs available at the markets at the town squares and Ace Hardware are plastic that are either cut by a laser or a router. Ace may have a source for a cast metal sign, but I've not seen a display for one at the store.

The classiest ones are by Whitehall, are on Amazon, and are cast aluminum finished in bronze. They sell in the $70-80 range. However, there is another vendor on Amazon with a similar cast sign that sells for under $30. There are also laser-cut metal signs in many styles, such as a dog or horse with your house numbers below the figure.

Most of the metal signs are designed to be attached to an outside wall of the house. Mounting them to the cross-bar of the lightpost will require you to drill two holes at the top of the sign and hang it by chains or a hose-clamp. Ace Hardware can help you with the mounting.

There is nothing wrong with having a lighted house sign. However, anyone waiting at 3:00AM for an ambulance to arrive is going to have both the interior and exterior house lights on.

We bought ours directly from Signs by Jackie. They also attached the sign for us while we were up north. I’ve heard if you catch them at the vendor night in the squares, it’s a little less money?

@VillageTinker - How do the lighted signs work? Battery or do you need an electrical source?

(Thanks in advance!)

We have had a lighted sign by Jackie for over 12 years now. Last year we noted that our sign looked a bit faded so we went back to Jackie to buy a new one and were pleasantly surprised that they would refurbish our old sign for less than the cost of a new one. They came out and removed the old sign and about 6 weeks later reinstalled the refurbished sign. It looked brand new and we were quite happy. While the old sign was gone my other half put up a makeshift sign as our home no longer has the house numbers on the window.

We didn’t get a lighted sign because we have large numbers on our house above the garage for emergency responders to find our house. Our sign is just for decoration. We got ours from Signs by Jackie on 301 using a $50 coupon from our Villages agent. It was still pricey ($100+) after the coupon. Ace Hardware is cheaper, but with far less variety.

Do NOT go to Jackie's. They are rude and and the office in south of Wildwood where the traffic is miserable. They are not user-friendly.

Funny how others speak highly of them. Is this the first business you tried to destroy?

Yes, we regretted doing business there. The coupon was not worth subjecting ourselves to the experience.

I do think the $50 coupon triggers the rude response if you don't go with the upgrade signage sales talk.

Which kind of sign did you buy, use the coupon?

Rwirish 02-29-2024 05:52 AM

A lighted sign is not needed. An ambulance if needed would find your home regardless.

Hufnagel 02-29-2024 08:37 AM

Had our sign done at Ace Hardware.

It's a gift certificate, and the agents buy them. Perhaps they get a discount for buying so many but - Jackie's definitely gets paid for each sign order that uses those things. There's no reason for them to be less than hospitable.

I do remember that my first visit placing the order was a little abrupt. I'd never ordered a custom-made sign before, was new to the Villages, and I felt as though the woman at the desk was rolling her eyes at my lack of understanding of the process.

Doesn't matter though, I got my sign, and someone else paid for it. So their attitude is not my problem.

JanMazz 02-29-2024 11:29 AM

I got mine at Ace Hardware. It took just a few days and they had several options to choose from.

We had a $ 50 coupon via our sales rep and had no problem dealing with them.

Signs by Jackie

Also got ours from Signs by Jackie. Metal sign cost $177 and looks nice. However, sign was ordered on 10/5 with scheduled delivery date early December. Actual delivery date was early January (1 month late, 3 months total). I think the optional installation fee was $50 (declined and installed myself).

Wow. I wonder what they were doing for 3 months? You could have gotten a custom aluminum sign from Amazon in about 5 days for less than 20 dollars.

We bought ours about 3 years ago and took about 2-3 weeks. Spelled my wifes last name wrong and made up new one in 5 minutes

Jackie’s signs in WILDWOOD. Did your realtor give you a coupon towards one at closing?
