He's not a reporter, he's an ad copywriter paid to write only positive pieces of propaganda for suckers dumb enough to actually pay money for a marketing tool disguised as a newspaper.

Agree
To survive in the hard copy, and electronic world of publications, ad money drives the narrative. Argument, in some cases like this.....bait and switch?

How pristine is Havana and Evans?

Choked on my coffee. Still trying to get the green paint off my shoes and cart seat. Add insult to injury, they didn’t even proofread the text itself.

That was a bigger joke then actually playing on some of these courses.

Probably the same reporter they hired to write about Oren Miller. Or the same one who wrote when they raise our fire fee from $125 to $333 and start charging a milage fee on top of that it would be a savings for most residents.

As I remember, that is what the people voted for, after a misleading propaganda campaign. So now the fire rate is in the hands of the county, not The Villages.

Pmgokey 03-16-2024 06:11 AM

Very pristine. No grass on the greens to get in the way of your putts.

Pristine golf courses

The villages should be embarassed to advertise any type of golf to prospective buyers with the conditions our courses are in. Never seen courses get so bad over the winter.

It will get better after April 1, and still better after May 1. Bye bye snowbirds…

Seeing that on the front page was a real joke! All I could think was that the Villages owners made them put that there to help cover-up the bad news about the golf courses. Or, maybe they're just reusing an article they ran about 10 years ago.

A friend and I just played Juliette Falls In Dunellon. The nicest course for the money I've played in the area in a long time. The course was immaculate and pristine. Well worth the drive.

$90.00 public rate.

Golfers shopping for homes in The Villages should NOT purchase a New Home in the Southern Areas. Rather, they should buy a pre-owned home in the Northern or Middle areas which have plenty of golf courses nearby since the Developer has not built enough Executive Golf Courses in the South.

Without the snowbirds, most of the courses wouldn’t generate enough revenue to exist.

I have no issue with snowbirds. With or without them, chronic complainers will still hold down the fort. Remember, when the snow melts the dirt rises....

NJRICHARD 03-16-2024 08:54 PM

Ok, so now what??
We all love playing golf, and how do we rectify the situation? We must list what we want and then find a way of getting it. The courses are interrible condition; why? Who is responsible? And how do we change it??

Paul1934 03-17-2024 09:29 AM

Pristine

Sad conditions generally south of 466. Played Hacienda this morning, “pristine “.

I've been playing three champion courses regularily that are north of 466 and they are fine.

Watch yourself. The Koolaid queen has declared that the golf courses are fine. Now bow and kiss the ring of the developer.

Played TDS this afternoon and the conditions were very good, absolutely nothing to complain about there.

I cringe when I hear this argument about 'north versus south'. I lived north of 466 for 3 years and now live way down south of 44 in a new Village. I'm an avid golfer, and very happy with my choices down here, but even MORE excited about what my NEW choices will be in 2024 and 2025. Not sure if you are trying to be facetious or not-but if you're not-you need to revisit the facts about courses-both existing and under construction.

By snowbirds are you referring to owners or renters?

You bring up a good point. A lot of people blame "snowbirds" for a variety of problems, which is probably unfair in general. Having thought about this, here is my "pecking order" of who is most likely to take care of not only golf courses, but amenities in general, as well as be a good neighbor because the are invested in our community:

1) Full Time owners
2) Snowbirds who own, especially those that stay here 6 months+
3) Adult guests of owners
4) Renters of 1 month+ that come back year after year, usually to same home
5) Other renters of 1 month+
6) Adult caregivers, i:e: substance abusers living on mommy's couch
7) Guests that are teenage grandchildren, especially those of "permissive" grandparents
8) Noisy, whiny, brats age 2-10
9) SHORT TERM RENTERS I:E: AIRBNB TENANTS OF LESS THAN 1 WEEK.

Feel free to add a category or dispute that list.

i would expand your list to (10).

Right before your current #9, I would add:

Folks with handicap stickers/permits who abuse the system, think they can drive their carts anywhere they please and aren't required to rake bunkers. The same people who also believe they have the right to extend those considerations, to their non-physically challenged friends who ride with them.
