Parking overnight near bus station in Sumter Landing

Do they tow your car if it's parked for 5 days at the parking lot near the bus station at Sumter Landing? I don't want to do the door to door pick up since they pick you up 3-4 hours before your flight.

Another question, can anyone recommend a reliable car service?

Not sure about the parking, but the most reliable car service we have used, is me driving an Enterprise one way rental to airport.

How much does that typically cost?

We haven't rented for several years now, and would imagine a whole lot more than we ever paid. Their website should show latest prices.

The Villages Car Rental | Enterprise Rent-A-Car

If renting a car, remember that Enterprise in Lake Sumter Landing and Hertz in Spanish Springs are closed on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday and won't allow returns at these times.

Airport rides

UBER. Groome did not show up to take me to airport. They did not answer phone or hung up on me while I was waiting. Uber picks you up for between $74 and $90. That’s from orange blossom. If you have 2 people it’s cheaper than bus. Door to door service drops you at your airline

I use Groome. Never had an issue. I use the door to door service. Mu flights are always early so I can nap and usually in the middle for pickups and drop offs....

Parking at Brownwood Hotel is no longer allowed, I just called the hotel and asked yesterday.

I was told the same thing by Groome when I made my reservation.

Ask the question of drivers on Next Door and you will get plenty of answers for personal drivers that pick you up.

Red Rose 03-19-2024 06:27 AM

I wouldn’t leave my car parked down there for even one night. Too much of a temptation for thieves. Can’t a friend or neighbor drop you off to get the bus there?

Just use Uber or Lyft

MrFlorida 03-19-2024 09:11 AM

Parking overnight is not a good idea, especially if you leave your reg. or insurance card in your car, with a garage door opener..... a thief can simpley go to your house and gain access in a few minutes.

JGibson 03-19-2024 09:21 AM

Groome's website says not to long term park in LSL as it can be towed.

For an additional $15 they will pick you up at your house but since Groome took over I heard more bad than good things about their reliability.

Uber during busy times can be hit or miss and don't rely on their advanced bookings.

What's your flight schedule and what village are you in.Maybe I can pick you up and drop you off. Would your postal station be convenient for you for pick up?

Never leave your address on the Vehicle Registration or Insurance card. Always black them out. Why invite someone to your house to steel the rest of your belongings after they steel your car to haul them away in?

It was $138 from Tierra Del Sol when I checked last month.

Uber rates change on the fly depending on time and demand. Once in Massachusetts a flight got moved from Worcester to Boston. I watched the Uber rate go from $75 to over $160 in a matter of 5 minutes while everyone was trying to book a ride.

That'll teach you not to fly out of Worcester Airport. That baloney with Worcester Airport has been going on for 40 years. They built and airport and no one came ... mostly because, "you can't get there from here".

The Villages Car Rental | Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I just booked a (small) car for DW and myself for our winter migration home. We fly out of Sanford. 24 hour rate, Enterprise, pick up at Sumter, one way drop off at Sanford, $86 (including all fees). Cheaper than a limo/Uber etc.

Ski Bum 03-20-2024 09:38 AM

You can Uber to the airport, it's been $100-$150 for the past year or so, or you can Uber to Lake Sumter (my fare has been $10, but I am just a mile away) then pay the $40 for the Groome shuttle.

I rented a car out of Leesburg the day before and dropped it off at Orlando Airport in January. Was $60 all in. Couldn't beat the convenience.

If you are going to fly out of Orlando and return there why not use "park and fly " they advertise very reasonable rates, I have not used any of those business, but it seems to be a better solution, it just a short drive to the airport area, any experience out there ?
