Some years ago, had a couple of 'Save the Planet Activists' screaming for everybody to turn cars off while waiting for traffic lights to change.:shrug:

Lots of cars shut off now when idling. It's annoying. I first ran into it on a rental. Thought the car died on me, but sure enough, hit the gas and it starts back up. My wife's new Highlander has the feature but it can be turned off.

Maybe you meant it to be ironic but *know it alls.

Edit to add, I believe the video is fake. I don't even know if Tesla's do "idle". But if they do, they are not making sound and she would not think it was idling.

You figure the lady heard his AC from where ever and came over to give him grief? Nah, staged for views. She banged on his closed window. I mean, maybe she could hear the compressor from under the hood. But doubtful.

Actually, just looked at the Youtube channel. The same guy in the same car seems to get "Karens" knocking on his window a lot for all sorts of reasons. :D

It is annoying! And isn't it bad for a car engine to be constantly shut off and switched back on again? Like pizza/food delivery cars always take a beating from that sort of treatment I thought... :confused:

It takes 10 seconds of idling to use the amount of fuel for starting an automobile. However, there is wear and tear on the starter motor.

I post it every time an individual gets in his bicycle soap opera about ICE vehicles.

And engine starting back up. I willing to bet when vehicles get older they won’t start back up:duck:

Eventually vehicles can be more difficult to start because of age and wear. Cylinder compression becomes less efficient, spark plugs foul and fuel distribution is less reliable.

I wonder what the stats are for this type of car for engine services. Is this only for certain cars? How do you get this option.

I want to make sure to never buy a car that has this. Also would like to choose another car in the rental lot and avoid those that have that annoying option.

I own a Hyundai Sonata and if I sit in the car with the engine idling after a period of time a notice appears my dashboard alerting me that the car will shut down at certain point. The car is a little over 3 years old and it has only happened twice, when I get where I want to go, I can't wait to get the hell out.

I wasn't trying to start an argument or anything. I was just asking if that's what you thought. I didn't mean my reply to sound negative so apologies if I did.

My 12-yo Camry still starts perfectly despite the fact that the engine shuts off every time I stop.

Back in time had quite a few cars like that.

My golf cart is electric and my Honda CRV hybrid starts/moves first in electric mode. :smiley:
So, I need not worry about any hesitation on engine startup to move.

Yes. The same guy has posted multiple videos of people knocking ion his window, using his Tesla charger w/o permission, people on his Ring doorbell...

No one has that many interactions with crazy people (well, unless they frequent ToTV!),

So yes they are ALL staged... It's what he does...
