I'm not. Interested to see if others do

One can hope care is improving but would like to see something more concrete

Can’t get any worse, only one direction things could go.

Always been treated with respect and excellent care.

About five months ago I had Hernia Surgery at The Villages Hospital and everything went well.

These Villages Hospital threads are about as uplifting as the waiting room at Sloan Kettering! But please continue....;)

Two thoughts..

1. This was a PR appearance by a person whose job is to make the hospital better. She is reporting on data that has not been made public and we shall see if her predictions of grades are accurate. It is interesting she is using ABC grades which is not the system CMS uses for evaluating hospitals, it uses stars.
Leapfrog uses ABC and is only interested in patient safety, preventable errors which is a different set of outcomes than used by CMS. Both can be useful.

2. There are many here who repetitively bash the POA as being anti-developer and anti-Villages. But it is the POA that is bringing this hopefully positive information to public attention.

If this review is at all favorable we will see lots of info in the Sun. Otherwise not a word.

Mine did too and everything went well for him too. Staff were kind and caring and very professional.

I’ve always had excellent care at the Villages hospital in the past couple of years.

Is this an April Fools Joke?

Just kidding. We have found that the Waiting Area/Emergency Room can be a frustrating third world experience and if that's as far as you get you probably have seriously negative reviews. My wife actually spent the night on a bed in the hallway before major surgery.

Now once you get upstairs things are very different. The surgery went very well and the quality of care and service once you are in your room is good.

So hopefully things are getting better all around.

You are right, if you have to go to the hospital, going thru the ER sets a bad tone for your stay.
Late February ER lived up to its poor reputation.

Agree.
Obviously better to come in the front than the back. ED' everywhere are busy and have limited rooms available...thus why you see so many on a 'wall'. Glad that your wife ultimately had a good outcome

Fair point, people who go there for scheduled procedures seem to generally have an OK experience. Going through the door of the ER is like entering the gate to hell. Unfortunately, many Villagers have had the extreme misfortune to have to go to the ER.

Is the solution to try & go to one of the free standing emergency rooms (if one is close by), in preference to the hospital?

Depends on the need.

If you need to be admitted to a hospital, you must then be transported to a hospital.

Golf cart accessible? That’s what forced me to the Hospital ER.

nothing improved! it where death lives

Went to the Villages Hospital ER a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at the attentive care I received. No waiting in the ER. They took me in right away. Assigned me a nurse to take care of my needs. Totally surprised since I had gone to the Leesburg hospital a month before and it was a horror.
