Recommendations of IRRIGATION REPAIR person or company

We are in need of some repair on our irrigation system. We are looking for recommendations, please.

Joe Tucker. 352-430-5615

villagetinker 04-06-2024 01:55 PM

I agree with Joe Tucker as I have used him in the past, however for some reason I got ambitious and decided to replace 2 sprinkler heads myself. One went very easy, the other it turned out the leak was not the sprinkler head but the joint about 2 feet away, UNDER the landscaping wall, lots of fun.

Irrigation system repairs cover a variety of items, many of which you might easily do yourself. Perhaps if you gave a brief description of what you sense is needed, and if you have any interest and ability to do some minor repairs, you could get better recommendations.

Just a few thoughts. When you say repair, what comes to mind is the actual nozzles not performing as intended due to aiming, malfunction, breakage, obstruction etc. I am sure that you will find some source that will "tune up" your system at some given cost per sprinkling device.

Some issues such as aiming is likely a simple twisting adjustment, or a simple replacement of a $1 sprinkling nozzle. Obstruction could be sod growing over a sprinkling head and is correctible by removal of the sod over that spot. Other easily correctable obstructions could be plant growth. Perhaps a riser can be easily installed.

I found it worthwhile to map my lawn sprinkling zones, identifying the number, type and location of each sprinkling device by zone as well as any problem associated with any device.

I could go on as could others, but it really depends upon your interest and capabilities.

Otherwise, let others advise as to whom might be able to help. Best wishes.

OP, I pay Massey $40 per quarter to inspect and maintain my irrigation system. Last week, I had a broken sprinkler that needed to be repaired by digging a hole in the ground. Massey came out and repaired it the next day, for no charge. If I didn't have an ongoing agreement, I may have had to make several calls and wait a week or so to get someone to come out and they may have charged me $150 or more. So, to me, it makes sense to have a regular maintenance agreement.

I had a different experience with this company. I think they sold me unnecessary work which included moving several heads. Then, two of the heads which were moved became disconnected from the tubing underground. I can’t recommend due to overselling and poor workmanship.

If you don't have a regular irrigation maintenance service, will someone please comment on how much you would be charged to call a company to repair a sprinkler head that is broken underground and causing a geyser in your yard? I am curious about how easy it is to get someone to come to your house and what they will charge to do an easy repair.

Anything related to a sprinkler system is easy to work on. I buy new better sprinkler heads in bulk from Amazon. It takes maybe 30 mins to replace and adjust a whole head. I bought the few tools that are needed to make the job easier decades ago, but you can also use a fine blade saw to cut pvc pipe, some sandpaper to smooth the cut, and pvc glue. The 1st thing I would do is replace the controller to put in a smart controller that will save you money and water.

I also agree with this. I had a maintenance agreement with ACI, and every time they came (quarterly $60), they would find something wrong and add on to the price for that quarter.

Rainger99 04-07-2024 01:59 PM

Several people have mentioned that the repair man has fair pricing or has reasonable prices.

Those terms are very vague. It would be far more helpful if people could provide a little more detail on the pricing.

Some people may think $50 an hour is expensive while other people may think that $100 an hour is a bargain.

I replace my own, very easy, just takes little effort and very little general knowledge… and about $5 dollars in parts.

I highly doubt you could get anybody come out for less than hundred bucks. Not worth their time and effort.

About all businesses seems to do that. Just say no.

Last time I had a geyser, I called my guy and he stopped by later that day, fixed it in 5 -10 minutes and charged me $25...

I gave him $40 and told him to keep the change... Hmmm... Maybe that's why he comes whenever I need him...

I would keep that guy on speed dial:beer3:

Another vote for Joe Tucker. 352-430-5615. Joe came to my house on time, fixed/adjusted several broken sprinklers for a very reasonable price. Joe’s my guy!

Best Irrigation Person - Caleb Hough

We love our irrigation person. His name is Caleb Hough and his number is 352-254-0215. We have referred him to several people and they have all told me he did a great job. He is reasonably priced and does a good job.

retiredguy123 04-07-2024 09:26 PM

I wish posters would stop posting that a contractor is "reasonably priced". It is too vague. Why not just say how much they charged for a specific task? That is what people really want to know. Posting that a contractor is reasonable doesn't help.

Last week I had a sprinkler . geyser and went to my stash found a compatible nozzle and replaced in 5 minutes. Total cost was 86 Cents. Simple as changing a light bulb. My system has 41 Hunter sprinklers (30 popups - some from ground, others from risers)(11 in ground rotors). Got my learning thanks to Ace Hardware 15 years ago. Bought my stash from online sites (probably $40). Never had to call a sprinkler repair man. If you can plant a flower, you can fix most sprinklers)

Replacing a nozzle is easy and most homeowners should learn how to do it. But, if the sprinkler is broken underground, I want an irrigation contractor to repair it, especially if it requires gluing the pipe together.

My neighbor and I use and recommend ACI for our home irrigation system maintenance. They also have a quarterly visit program that gives us peace of mind. Very reasonably priced.
Ask for technician Ivan (who we use). Call 352-648-2783 office number. Great company!

I agree, ACI fixed one leak, then proposed $1,100 in additional changes. 🤷*♂️

Well, in my case, it was my very first problem. I had zero clue as to how they worked. Since then, I've replaced 2 other heads myself. But if I can't (or don't want to) fix it, I got a guy...

If it's any indication of how he drives, I would stay away from The Villages Irrigation LLC. He was flying up Buena Vista today approaching the rotary ( I was in the rotary) and I had to come to a complete stop in fear that he would run into me. Then he blasted his horn and gave me the middle finger. Certainly wouldn't do business with a company like this that is so disrespectful.
