For the 2045 total eclipse, Florida will be in the path of totality

It will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2045.

Put this date on your calendar! And let's hope for clear skies!

When is the next total solar eclipse in the US after 2024 and what is its path? What to know

Michael 61 04-09-2024 07:03 AM

Did the math, I’ll be 83 - may be around for the next one.

ThirdOfFive 04-09-2024 07:08 AM

" I don't know where I'll be then, Doc," he said, "but I won't smell too good, that's for sure." (Leslie Nielsen as Dr. Rumack in Airplane).

chuck90199 04-09-2024 07:34 AM

Wow! I'll only be 104. I can hardly wait.

Velvet 04-09-2024 07:49 AM

I may still be around, but my eyesight might be not so good.

Hopefully I’ll have good view from nursing home window if I’m lucky

Two Bills 04-09-2024 08:38 AM

Well, that will be my last eclipse.
I go for shorter time span events, like Olympic Games and World Football (Soccer) Cup.
Mind you, the way I feel at the moment, it will soon be sunrises!

Lottoguy 04-09-2024 08:50 AM

Will Scooter still be doing his schtick? But this time on stage with his walker?

Taltarzac725 04-09-2024 09:08 AM

Maybe I will rent my house out.

Dusty_Star 04-09-2024 09:38 AM

There'll be a couple of partials next year.

Scooter will be 84 - I expect him still to be with us!

Blueblaze 04-09-2024 10:19 AM

Heck, everybody knows 70 is the new 50! We'll all be around!

By then I'll be on my 5th house in the Villages, a mere cart ride over the I-4 bridge to Magic Kingdom. Of course, there still won't be an executive course south of 75, so I'll probably have to pack a sleeping bag for the cart ride to my 4 pm tee time at Hilltop!

Stu from NYC 04-09-2024 01:30 PM

Its on my calendar for sure, now to get glasses for it

It looks like the glasses are only good for ten years. Depending on the quality though. Probably much less than that for some.

It’s on my calendar! I’ll be a young 92, and hopefully my kids haven’t moved me out of FL by then. 🤞🏻

Cuervo 04-10-2024 05:25 AM

For the person who posted the original posting, you do know most of the people on this site live in The Villages a somewhat retirement community. For many 2024 would be a miracle.

Driving west towards Paducah Kentucky Monday, the traffic going east was backed up for 25 miles! Hotels in the path were priced 3 times the normal rate. All to see an eclipse that lasted about 12 minutes?

bragones 04-10-2024 05:58 AM

A view from heaven might bi kind of cool.

Priebehouse 04-10-2024 06:05 AM

Holy Moley!

Why? I think most of us should be dead by then. I’ll wait as the time gets nearer

We had 93% totality up north. It was nice to see a sense of community with employees taking it all in outside the various workplaces and families and neighbors lining their lawns with chairs and blankets...similar to a parade route. Optometrists got a boost from a small percentage of Mensa chapter members that chose to challenge the theory that it was a good idea to look at the sun (sans protective eyewear) and ‘entrepreneurs’ were able to unload their non conforming Avatar 3D glasses on the unsuspecting masses. So it was a good moment for most to take their minds off the daily grind. For me, the next one i’ll be taking advantage of a rare, premium tee time.

I do know that the Villages is a somewhat retirement community starting at age 55.

I have seen some reports that the average age in The Villages for a male is 62 and female is 60.

If you are 55-60, actuarial charts show that you should live at least 20 more years so many of the people living here now should be around to see the 2045 eclipse.

Although I would hate to have it on my calendar and then forget about it!

MidWestIA 04-10-2024 07:34 AM

gone

much of the villages will be gone

roadrnnr 04-10-2024 08:21 AM

I'll be 89 so Maby
But The one on Monday came right over our town in VT.
3:26sseconds of totality.

Glad I experiences it. it was amazing!

GATORBILL66 04-10-2024 08:27 AM

You really think most of will still be here by then. We will be lucky if there is still a USA by then the way this country is being run now!

Buckeye Bill 04-10-2024 08:28 AM

Question....politics blind, if you were in a state known for hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding.....and your business is mostly insuring mobile home parks and homes built in low lying areas...on concrete slabs, does the exodus (if true)really surprise you?

MvyDe 04-10-2024 11:44 AM

That will be my 95th birthday. What an amazing gift

I think my schedule is open on Saturday.

Justputt 04-11-2024 11:21 AM

I didn't care about it this year and probably won't then. We were even in the totality zone. If I were an astronomer, astrophysicist, etc. and had the equipment to analyze what was available, okay. But for the average person I don't see the appeal outside of some kind of bragging rights about seeing it. Maybe I'm just getting old...

I will be sitting in an URN somewhere before 2045 in my own Zone of Totality. Myself and GOD, we will watch it from a different angle than the alive TV Landers!

Yeah, 80's, looking forward to seeing that. For sure we would need "clear" skys.

Maybe the Wizzards of Oz will let the skies over The Villages be clear on that day.

barbara828 04-11-2024 09:46 PM

I'll be 107 ! Don't know where I will be or if I'll know my own name
