Looking over the Sawgrass bridge towards the south Villages.

I think I see the Orlando Airport in the distance !! :crap2:

Stu from NYC 04-28-2024 09:54 AM

Incredible amount of building going on down there.

Actually, it's Disney.

Arlington2 04-28-2024 10:08 AM

I drove through there (Bexley Drive) for the first time Friday on my way to the turnpike. It is enormous. I thought the constuction would never end. That is a major league project. Infrastructure is being laid or the next decade!!

I’m all about it.
But get a good look at it in this dawn or dusk timeline picture. Once completed, those roads will not be as user friendly as they appear in the photo

By then there will be more expansions. We are most likely just at the beginning of development. The ball is rolling.

50 more acres and TV can declare itself a separate state.

That will end ToTV as we know it.....strictly from a ‘no political references’ standpoint! ;)

kansasr 04-28-2024 12:56 PM

I believe it's called the "Bexley" bridge

The cattle are all being turned into houses. It's magic.

In 10-years, Orlando will be a suburb of TVs. Just picture the gas and charging stations along the 6-lane MMTs heading south. It'll become a whole new revenue source for the Morse's.

The old one was. It is the Southern Oaks Bridge.

Zenmama18 04-29-2024 05:15 AM

Not yet. It may be Disney tho.

I think the goal is to be able drive a golf cart to EPCOT, et al.

Robnlaura 04-29-2024 06:25 AM

Bexley Trail starts at the Sawgrass roundabout and goes over Southern Oaks Bridge and continues past Eastport to 470.

It will be busy! If they charged a toll, they could abolish the amenity fees!!

How big does it have to be before TV becomes a true city with a mayor and council?

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Officially, it’s the Southern Oaks Bridge…..

Go to the top of the bridge and take a photo in the opposite direction.

That’s what it will look like in 3~5 years or less …..

Wasn’t my post....but I can’t say with certainty that ‘most’ of the 130k (arguably) people in TV are ‘friendly people’. Simply because I haven’t met all or most....however, if ToTV and the threads within are any indication.....yeah, maybe it’s best to believe what you want to believe! ;)

When we moved into our new home in 2014, there was suspicion that the Developer Family would pack it in and cash out. The talk was “Buildout”. No construction south of Route 44. Sure…. We were located near the southern end of TV, now in the middle. Middleton will probably be the middle in a decade or so. Will be 250k folks then.

Never, we are set up under special Florida laws as a community development district. The laws make it very difficult to change the structure.

I’ve always said....the Morse’s and the Mouse’s (sic) ...Disney, will eventually meet in the middle!

Robnlaura 04-29-2024 11:36 AM

We have a friend in bushnell he showed me massive new land development around bushnell. He has been told these are all the villages land clearing areas. True or not who knows but looking at them doing it and to me I have to agree. As far as I am concerned there are going to be way way more homes being built. Yes it will change that “bubble” fomo is going out the door. The next interesting situation is the massive rise in new listings in Florida. More inventory is coming and the sales are stalling. Will is affect pricing no one knows yet.

Looking forward to the growth of the next 25 years ! It’s absolutely amazing watching all this unfold. This is why I chose to move to The Villages. Can’t wait for all the activities that Eastport will bring.

Yep. The Villages will be a new “Land” in Disney. “The VillagesLand”. Ride your own golf cart while dodging old people. Learn how to line dance with elders. See how many early bird restaurants you can visit.

Somehow, I don't see too many trees. We in the US complain about the Amazon Rain Forest getting cut down, but it appears that we would do the same thing.

Not really.

It was pasture landheld future McDonalds hamburgers. Which is not always good for the ecology. There was some nasty materials left behind that needed to be mitigated and cleaned up.

The viable trees that were there were retained and will be maintained.

Many more trees are added during the "Florida friendly" landscaping phase.

There many new lakes, and they are generally larger than before. Similar to the chain of lakes in Linden/Monarch Grove. One lake just south of Central Parkway is close to a mile long.

And there's no question the diversity and population of the landscape and wildlife improves with all the lakes and added landscaping.

Clarified it for ya.

Plenty friendly where I live near Sawgrass.
Not sure where you live but sorry for you and where you reside.

Never as long as the CDD form of government stays in place. Serves the area very well as structured.

goneil2024 04-30-2024 04:33 AM

Good point, isn’t that why a new tag line is in the works……?

So sorry you feel that way, I play golf at every exec since 2010 and have found 99% of everyone is friendly, enjoyable and curious as to “you drive how long to get here”?

But that 1% of those who complain that TV is too big, or not friendly, rarely leaves their home base by more than 5 miles. Yet is very unhappy about the new neighborhoods.

To give an example two guys at Hilltop were rattling on about how ridiculous all of these new areas and it needs to stop. It’s infringing on our lifestyles by having so many people.

I asked when they traveled to LSL was it just too many people?
Answer “Never been there”

So did you find the people at Brownwood not friendly?
Answer “Where’s that”

The few who have traveled to Brownwood even from SS area, many thought it was just to far of a drive.

In all the years I have asked why are you so unhappy about the new build, only a few have traveled below 466. I remember after renting in LSL for years we bought our first house in Pennacamp. We were so excited, and yet everyone who asked where we bought thought we had just thrown our money away.

“You are never going to sell that house it’s in left field, not close to anywhere, that neighborhood will have empty houses for years. You got swindled”

Well that didn’t happen.

So I ask from those who no longer think this is a community of people is friendly, do you find the younger residents are not respectful of your age, and that’s why it’s not friendly
