The Contest

Jerry Seinfeld: It's easier for a woman not to do it than a man, we have to do it, it's part of our lifestyle. It's like shaving.

Elaine Benes: Oh, that is such baloney! I shave my legs.

Cosmo Kramer: [while eating] Not everyday.

"Was that wrong? Should I have not done that?" --George

Bitsee 04-30-2024 04:37 PM

OMG , One of very favorite sitcoms...

Unemployed George running out of Jerry's bathroom with his pants half down yelling "VANDELAY" industries as he tripped and laid on the floor when Kramer answered the phone wrong.

LuvNH 04-30-2024 05:56 PM

Every one of them. Very talented cast.

The one with the magic loogie (with Keith Hernandez). I think it’s called The Boyfriend.

So many… but we watched Christmas episodes from old favorite sitcoms last December and The Festivus (airing of grievances) is always a hoot.

FromDC 05-01-2024 06:36 AM

1. Festivus For The Rest Of Us.

2. Can You Spare A Square.

mikeycereal 05-01-2024 06:55 AM

There are many that I find funny. Few that are not. Soup Nazi is great, the Contest ("I'm Out!"), the Bizarro Jerry, the Boyfriend 2-parter (Hernandez), the Mannequin, the Sweater, so much relatable funny stuff. The episode that made me bust out laughing most was the Gum. Specifically when Elaine gets sprayed by the water hose.

Amazing how many things first heard on Seinfeld entered our vocabulary

airstreamingypsy 05-01-2024 08:48 AM

None of them, I don't understand why a show with so many annoying characters was popular.

“The Smokers” George starts a new job and takes up smoking so he can take smoking breaks. The other smokers call him out. He lights up in front of his fiancé during wedding planning. Hilarious.

I swear there is another episode (same one?) where Elaine starts a new office job. She is “out of the loop” and realizes you need to be in the smoker clique to get the daily scoop and dirt.
She gossips and chokes but does better on her job. Of course it ends badly, as I recall, she can’t do it and is embarrassed for being out of the loop in a meeting
— losing her job as a result.

The reason is its observational comedy. Its timeless and transcending because 'we' as human beings breathe new life into it daily with our actions and mannerisms. Seinfeld and Larry David tapped into something that all generations can relate to.....

bobmarc 05-01-2024 10:26 AM

Opposite George...when he told off Steinbrenner,."Hire that man". Also liked the Shrinkage episode....I use it as my excuse.

Larry David's show was often hilarious. I am talking about Curb Your Enthusiasm .

If someone has to explain it to you, you’d never understand it.

The Christmas Card "Nipple" episode...

manaboutown 05-01-2024 04:50 PM

Seinfeld reruns have been and continue to be my favorite sitcom reruns and I have watched reruns of Frasier, Three's Company, Sanford and Son, All in the Family, even I love Lucy (worldwide) among others. I cannot select a favorite episode as I thoroughly enjoyed so many.
