Homeowners Insurance
I like probably many others have been informed that your current policy will not be renewed.
The Villages Insurance is whom we went to to get our current policy on the home we bought new ten years ago. They have come up with one or two suggestions with whom we could use for a new policy. One is over $1k above our current policy, which they recommend, and the other has about the same premium. Question: if you have had your policy discontinued, with what insurance company did you end up going with? |

If you or your financial advisor has access to A.M. Best, have them check out the insurance company, then you can make an informed decision, policy cost may not be the best way to choose similar polices you need to consider the stability of the insurance company.
|
A number of home insurance companies have been approved to enter the Florida market, so hopefully they will bring some relief (and lower rates).

I have a new home here, so I haven’t faced the issue of non-renewal; however, when I was shopping for insurance prior to closing, I faced similar issues with certain companies not writing policies here, or that had a less than stellar AM Best rating.
I was pleased to find out that USAA would write a policy here and the premium was just slightly more than some B rated companies. I also found that some of the companies that were recommended by The Villages insurance were not A. M. Best rated at all; they were rated by Demotech whom I’d never heard of before. Not suggesting that they’re bad companies, I just couldn’t find out enough about their solvency to make me feel comfortable about purchasing a policy. At the end of the day I went with USAA. They buttoned things up nicely with Home, Auto, Golf Cart and an umbrella policy. |
We were not renewed by Progressive and went to State Farm, transferring home, auto, golf cart, and umbrella. The new premium total came out to less than what we had been paying. Your results may be different because of things like credit score and whatever else the insurance company uses in calculating the premium.

Linda@preferredinsurance.llc If you send her an email, she will be able to quote you. After reading these kinds of posts, we've decided to buy new construction. The insurance market should right itself soon since several new companies have entered the FL market. There's a new company called Slide and they had very low rates; however, no track record on handling claims. Good luck in your search. |
That would be a no regarding rates.

Poor communication from The Villages Insurance. Took my business elsewhere.

Every year I call several people to get a quote for all of our insurance needs. Usaa, AAA, State Farm and the villages group. TV insurance was the cheapest by a few hundred $$, with reputable companies. As I remember, USAA does not write their own home insurance, they partner with somebody.

Try Allstate for better sinkhole and hurricane coverage

Not true USAA still writes their own policies in certain Florida counties. Having been a USAA member for over 45 years. What I like about USAA they send you a nice check at the end of the year.

How ridiculous is it that the Villages won’t continue with your insurance policy. Just another failure for TV

I switch to KIN Ins. After rated doubled I found Kin at less than last year's price.

My homeowners with progressive was renewed with $280 increase. $190 due to the state increase allowed and the rest to increase the coverage of the dwelling about $30k. But, now we have a deductible on our roof. No more full replacement unless from a hurricane or other major loss which also has a deductible. You only have one 2% deductible, roof or hurricane besides the regular $2,500 deductible. So at the end of the day I’m not happy, and I would have rather a prorated deductible but it’s probably what we need to manage all the roofing fraud. My cost is $1400 for a 2600 sq ft home circa 2016. You can opt out of the roof deductible but then you pay a crazy higher rate.

This is an important and good thread that I have bookmarked and will be referencing later this year. Keep the information coming. We have already been notified by Farmers that our policy won’t be renewed this fall and I’m not looking forward to having to find a new provider at a reasonable rate. Our home is over 20 years old, but has a two month old roof and is in excellent overall condition. I dumped The Villages Insurance several years ago because of their very poor and slow communication and inability to find us competitive rates relative to an outside agency. My wife and I have owned six homes during our lives and have collectively filed a grand total of ZERO homeowners claims, but that doesn’t seem to work in our favor. I would be willing to consider signing a waiver prohibiting us from litigation for a new roof in exchange for a more reasonable rate if that’s what necessary. I would be very interested in feedback from others who have explored that option?

Then one canceled out quote after drone inspection. No reason given. One was $3,000 more than any other quote due to pool/cage, not for liability but they just don’t do many pools. Pool part of quote was $2,500. Kin came in $600 less than current policy, for apples to apples. Next year increase was double. So using a broker this year and will be starting 4 months early again. We renew in February so, search starts in November |

I've been getting a check (actually deposit to my checking account) from USAA for nearly 50 years. As long as I've had insurance of some sort with them. They call it a Subscriber's Savings Account. When I didn't have car or home insurance with them for a few years. They sent me a check for over 3k. It was the balance of the account that had built up for about 30 years. Most was auto insurance while on active duty.

Went with Lassiter-Ware and are working with Gina Rush, excellent. |
TV insurance doesn't work with all insurance companies like Geico for example.
I wouldn't rely on them only. |
