Line dancing

Down at Spanish Springs Town Square tonite. So ok....how do the line dancers know which dance to do to a given song and who decides? I enjoy watching the line dancers but have been unable to determine how they interact. Probably due to my two left feet. Looks fun...maybe lessons when we finally get down here for good.

Line dancers........

Line dancers are placed at the squares to inspire awe and to make me feel bad.

I suspect they are BORN with that coordination, like all great athletes.

I have heard that they take classes to perfect their art. In fact I know that is a fact. You can find line dancing classes everywhere. I would join one, but I hate pity.

I am SO jealous. I can't chew gum and walk.

Sure you can, gracie. My solution is to make sure I'm not trying to do them at the same time........ ;)

Classes every Monday at 12 at Colony Rec Center. My wife and I have been a few times and I have proven to her that I have two wrong feet.

I am curious also a s to how they decide which dance to do ! I am coordinated enough to do line dancing I think, but it all looks so mysterious with all the different dances. Could it be smoke and mirrors?

Check out the following site for all kinds of info about line dancing in The Villages.

The section about dancing on the squares should answer your questions.

Gracie. You are a hoot.

Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to notice all line dances are the same steps but there is a step that turns the dancer in a different direction and redoes the same steps.

That being said, I'll probably trip trying to replicate the line dance being done.

I've have never been accused of being Fred Astaire.

The tall blonde with the water bottle telepathically sends the dance to the others.

I have suspected that for a long time.

Those wonderful line dancers at SS do us all a big favor. Not only are they a joy to watch, but we two-left-footers can dance to our hearts content without being self conscious, knowing that all eyes are on them!

See the videos

Here are 2 links to instructional videos, how to line dance the “Electric Slide” and the “Cupid Shuffle”. These 2 dances are performed at the squares.
Following these instructions, even with 2 left fees you will do a good job at the squres next time.

Electric Slide: www.youtube.com/v/h_nGCZ-vH0o

Cupid Shuffle: www.youtube.com/v/6-C9nW1jU4w

(if the links doesn’t work, you may find the videos at “youtube.com”)

Good luck and have fun!
