It’s hotter than the Villages up here
Dam, it’s been hotter in New England than in Florida this week, and it’s going to stay that way through Thursday. Wishing we were at our Villages home, where we have A/C and a pool. The heat has brought out New Englands brutal, hard biting horse flies so it’s difficult to be outside. And to add injury to insult, I had to pay the holiday rate to play golf today (Juneteenth) on a friggin Wednesday at a practically empty golf course. Erggggg, missing the Villages!

This walking stuff is getting harder and harder, after riding around TV courses for 7-8 months of the year. We hit 97 at the lake today. Heat index was only 103-104 ... not bad :pepper2: |

72 on the lanai this morning.................where's my jacket??

Best time of the year in in TV is June through September.

I'm in NH, south of Manchester. Alexa just told me the temperature is 71 right now, but will get to 97. I have been out checking my garden and walking to get my newspaper, the temperature is good, the flies are not. We have a pool, we have AC and some of our family are coming for dinner this evening. We are expecting the heat to end later with storms and heavy rain. For us, it's all good. However,I listened to the reporting on the guy who was trapped in a wheelchair in New Mexico and could not get away from the fires. Now that is a climate I could not live in. How very sad and how terrifying to be trapped by fire.
So whether you want to live full time in Florida or are seasonal, we are very fortunate. |
On the bright side, my pepper and tomato plants have been waiting for this!
|
I am in western New York and playing golf. $35 for 18 holes with a cart, senior rate of course. Courses are in excellent shape. Haven’t minded the heat but keep myself hydrated.

Here in the UK, a veritable heatwave in my area. 70f.
A couple more days like this, and we will be getting health warnings, and a hose pipe ban! |

Florida is built for heat. AC everywhere. Pools. Open air dining with ceiling fans everywhere. Beach casual dress accepted almost anywhere you go. Other places have to deal with occasional extreme heat, but most certainly cold/bitter cold. With limited resources, the lean is towards addressing the cold issue, which spills over into the number of pools, the use/purchase of AC, and the expectation, even in hotter weather, that long pants/shoes/socks are expected in "more refined" venues. I'll take the Florida approach any day/time of the year. |
Well, all I can say is…..it’s summer time and end of June. Equals hot temperatures.

New England
Gotta love the weather in SW New Hampshire, cause golf $32 for 9 walking mid week, but a deal on the weekends at $36.
40's last week in the early AM, had to have the heat on and the AC yesterday. |

I remember hot days in CT. Out on Long Island Sound, the temperature was in the 70s, the salt air was wonderful, and sometimes the fishing was great.

Hotter up north

Isn’t it a blessing to have two homes and be able to go back and forth with the seasons? Keep cool! The heat wave will pass. See you in the pool. |

My wife and I were thinking the same thing...cooler at our home in Summerfield than here in Maine! Heck, it was 4 degrees hotter way up in Fort Kent, Maine than at our Summerfield home. You can't go much further North than that and be in the U.S. We are lucky to have AC and a pool here too though. I am starting to understand the whole snowbird thing though... best of both worlds most of the time but the temps can flip flop on us from time to time. Much more comfortable here in Maine today after last nights storm! |
I feel your pain!!! Yesterday was 90 here in Bar Harbor until the storms rolled in. First time it hit over 75 all summer long and it came with a vengeance!! Fortunately we are back into the 60's, low 70s for the next two weeks.

If you need to use water outside, for example to water your plants, you are still able to do that, but with a watering can or a bucket, and I fill them from my hosepipe! |

The real feel temp is going to be over 100 for the next several days.
I played the Pennsicola nine on Juneteenth. 7:28 teen time. No crowds. Played alone. Shot 41. Loved it. |
You know what Jesus said: "You think it's hot here.... "

Growing up (with my grandparents and father) my grandfather grew all kinds of veggies. At dinner time if I was hungry my grandmother would tell me dinner was still cooking and I had to wait. So I would head out to the garden and eat all kinds of delicious veggies off the vine. Tomatoes and raspberries were my favorite. |
