Harry’s

Had to go to Ocala for a different reason and decided to have lunch there. We selected this restaurant, Harry’s, corner of 24th (Broadway) and 1st, and we had a wonderful time! The hub got shrimp and grits and I got chicken and grits (because it came with collard greens) and we each got a side of smoked sausage. (And the chicken was fried like fish) Yum!!

We also got a starter (crawfish fondeaux), and 2 drinks all for a total of $58.00. And, we had enough for leftovers.

If you get a chance, check out Harry’s, you’ll be glad you did!

I remember that the collard greens were great.

NO! You gave away our favorite secret spot!

Harry's is a favorite spot for us as well. There are some really great places outside TV.

Have gone there for years...since they opened, dinners and lunch, never had a bad meal or service, amazing as many times as we eat there ! Don't drink alcohol very often but when at Harry's always have a hurricane... never found a place that makes a hurricane as close to New Orleans like Harry's. Always buy a couple gift cards at Christmas to get the 2 extra $30 cards... and was surprised to see this month they are having Christmas in July, extra $30 card with every $100 purchased. We consider a nearly 30% discount a real bargain for their food and service. They can move down here to The Villages any time as far as we're concerned...plenty of empty spaces !

We like Costa also, but Harry's is very different (New Orleans) cuisine. Gumbo, red beans and rice, excellent red fish, etc. Shrimp and grits that even someone who HATES grits would love...LOL !

You made my mouth water!

Also, if you get online and sign up for their loyalty club, once a quarter they send you a coupon for $10 off of a $25 meal purchase. We usually go for lunch and bring dinners home. Their shrimp & grits are the best ever. Some kind of Louisiana fish dish they feature every once in a while is really good. My husbands loves their tacos.
I wish they took reservations or had a call-in list. They're slammed during snowbird season.

Harry's

Also, one in Lakeland.

BlackHarley 07-04-2024 05:15 AM

Don't forget about the one in St. Augustine's. Harry's is always our go-to place when in Ocala.

We love Harry's

Lancer 07-04-2024 11:25 AM

Went to Harry’s when we lived in Lakeland. I worked downtown Lakeland and would go there for lunch.

Ellwoodrick 07-04-2024 11:42 AM

They just ran the same promotion they run at Christmas, Buy $100.00 gift card and get a bonus $30.00 gift card. Great deal if you like Harry's. Get on their email list. One of my wife and I favorite spots outside the bubble...............

Charsaunt 07-04-2024 02:24 PM

Harry's

Went there for lunch/dinner on Easter Sunday with my husband and brother. Food was FANTASTIC, especially the crab cake appetizer.

And I’ll bet half the price 😉

One of our fav restaurants, for our 17 years here.

mrf6969 07-05-2024 06:46 AM

We also go to Harry's during the Christmas season. The town square park across the street is lit up with millions of Christmas season lights, quite amazing actually.
Puts The Villages Christmas season town squares to shame.

I have already thought of too many "reasons" for differences. Probably none of them matched.
  • from mine
  • from the one where you went to Orlando
  • from the one which had you originally going to Ocala ...
:)

Stu from NYC 07-06-2024 03:23 PM

Wonder why restaurants in Ocala are far superior to what we have here?
