Gate pass installed on car mirrors
There used to be a guy that installed a gate pass on your car mirror so that you didn't have to roll down your window. Purchased a new vehicle recently and forgot to remove mine on the old car. Please need name and contact number.

As I recall the gentleman making the duplicate chips for the side mirrors is still doing this, and I am sure I saw some ads for this recently, now I cannot find them. Hopefully he will send you a private message.
As for the discussion about these not working, I think that some 'duplicators' were using old cards from people that no longer lived here, and these were removed from the system, therefore the copies would no longer work. On a side note, I have been testing various gates and it seems the new readers easily read the cards through a CLOSED car window, and I have several other cards in the wallet. |

BTW, removing the chip and moving it to a new vehicle typically damages the chip, rendering it useless... |

If they want to block all cloned cards they would have to change all the readers to a new format (probably get rid of HID) and then change probably 100,000(??)+ existing cards figuring 2 cards for every home. I can say, the new reader devices (most READER DEVICES have NOT (yet?) been replaced, only the database software) are much much more sensitive than existing old ones which may eventually lead to a "legit" card or sticker affixed somewhere to your car. All that being said, why even bother with gate cards. Automatic gates in both directions would do the identical job. Cameras can still read the plates. I wonder how many times a card code has been used for anything when a license plate is more accurate. You can tell the new READERS (hardware) because they aren't all beat up and faded from the sun. One new READER (hardware) you can test is at the southern O'DELL circle entry gate off Morse closest to 466A. The gate at O'Dell Mallory is still old. The new one reads my mirror card from like 2-3 feet away where the older ones need you to get very much closer (like max about 1 foot. |
I'm in the Lake Denham area and I have had no luck with any reader working without opening my window and getting real close. I drive up as close as possible but still have to open my window.

Having scan gate redundant. Public street. The gate should open automatically on timed delay. Gate cards are complete waste of money unless you’re in one of the exclusive villa that only they can enter.

When and where can I buy the "long range" cards that they said would be part of the new system?
|
You would think for the amount of $$ spent in amenities fees, bond fees and maintenance fees there would be a better system in place. Fumbling around looking for a card while driving jut to wave it out the window seems very outdated to me.

The only way you should need a new card is if the new reader requires a different chip that provides a different reply when queried - and if that happens, everyone would need to be issued new cards. |

The upgrade made it possible to install new readers that work with new devices to increase the range. I don't believe any new readers have been installed yet and you don't have a new, longer-range device. |

Going forward, the new system allows for the longer-range readers to be added and increases capacity for additional cards. |
Beats..not necessary. The card works right through your window.

You don't need to open the window for it to work. I've been here 20 years and had only 2 gates that required me to open my window because I couldn't get my car any closer to it without my rear-view mirror ramming into it. I just drive up as close as I can to the sensor and hold my card up against the windshield, move it around just a bit and the gate opens. No sweat.

It’s so easy to simply swipe the card with window open or closed. How spoiled we are to have to have a chip do that work for us.

Great Gate Card Installer

Ellie did multiple gate card mirror readers for our neighborhood and they work perfectly.
I highly recommend him. Phone: 352-530-5984 “The Village Blacksmith “ |
I use my cloned mirror gate card everyday to enter Villages gates as if they were auto exit gates. Cloned gate cards will continue to work as long as the origional is still active in the system. I would not use anything else to go through an entrance gate as if it were an exit gate.

I have heard that the chips will not be compatible with the new system they are supposed to be implementing. Mine still works.

Ellie did mine. Prides himself on paying attention to detail, and is very concerned about aesthetics. 352-530-5984

Seems lazy, been here a very long time and use my The Villages issued cards!

gate pass by mirror
It works well as long as it levels with the gate stand height. It often fails in the new village areas due to too tall or too short stands. Chas
