Home appliances recommendation

I need a washer and dryer for a new home in Shady Brook. Any recommendations for a place that will deliver and install? Thanks in advance.

Appliance Direct on 441 in Leesburg gets very good reviews (especially on ToTV)...

Heard quite a few times where the big box stores installers have been a nightmare.

Many years ago purchased a replacement microwave from Home Depot. The two installers who showed up had no clue what to do. Went to a local appliance store and their guy had it done in 5 minutes.

Haven't used them but will in the future due to Lowes / home Depot being all sub contractors...

Prefer to stay away from Lowes and definitely not home depot

jrref 07-17-2024 09:03 AM

We purchased from Costco and had the best experience.

PugMom 07-17-2024 09:46 AM

we got one from Lowe's and they installed it, but had to wait several days

Good Luck

You will find that most places are similar for the product. Delivery, install and take away of old appliances may have a cost difference. Gas dryers may require special installers to insure leak free gas lines

On a side note, pay close attention to installation dimensional requirements. Some homes have a specific room designed for the washer and dryer. Be alert to overhead cabinets, wall to door depth, etc. Dimensions could limit your model selection. Measure before you shop. I speak from experience (BAD) . Hopefully you are around to ensure those dimensions are part of your buying process.

Costco is great we've used them. Also Conn's Homeplus delivered our washer and dryer from Ocala for a competive price.

I’ve always had great luck with Best Buy. They’ve had good sales and still matched prices if I found them lower before delivery date. My latest kitchen set is the new white glass by Samsung. They also come in many other colors of glass very chic and sleek looking. Got tired of the stainless. Best Buy’s installation and follow up were great too.

I bought my washer/dryer in early 2023 from Best Buy - wasn’t impressed with the communications and responsiveness of the sales dept. Installation went OK, but wouldn’t use them again. I know better than to buy from Lowe’s or Home Depot, as I’ve had major issues with both before moving to Florida, as a result of the inferior sub-contractors they utilize for installation. For what it’s worth, I would look into Costco for any future appliance purchases/installation, as several neighbors have been very satisfied with their overall process.

MVB Appliance in Leesburg on 441 just after the split. Excellent price, customer service, product. Beats Home Depot, Lowes and Best Buy by a mile. Free delivery and haul away too.

We bought from MVB. No issues.

Sparky99 07-18-2024 06:08 AM

Used both Home Depot and Lowe's in the last 6 months for ALL new appliance. Both were easy to work with and the delivery and install was perfect. Fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, washer/dryer.

swilkinson 07-18-2024 06:12 AM

I'm just curious as to how Costco can get better installation contractors than local stores, when they are located out-of-town?

We have has great success with Appliance Direct and did price shop at Home Depot and Besr Buy as well. We have purchased a washer dryer and dishwasher (gas dryer). All installed and old appliances removed. Very reasonable installation fees - less than big box - and no delivery charge with installation. And they do NOT try to upsell you provided you tell them what you want, of course. We are very pleased and won’t bother to price shop anywhere else when we ultimately replace the last original appliance (stove

Speedqueen is the best. They are not fancy but do a great job and are built to last. I have had mine for several years now and they are just like new.

LG front-loading washer and dryer with pedestals from Costco. Perfect service so far 3 years in.

GE kitchen set upgraded from Lowe's. Had an issue with the touch panel on the refrigerator that was quickly repaired by GE home repair service.

Note: GE probably has the best repair and service network here in The Villages.

jjombrello 07-18-2024 10:04 AM

Bought three separate appliances from Best Buy, including installation, and have had great service. The installers were competent, courteous and professional.

Appliance Direct in Fruitland Park on 441. (Next to the Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler dealership),
They will absolutely SAVE YOU MONEY, and will deliver and remove old appliance usually in the same day or next day. If you shop there early in the day, your chances of same day service is greater than if you shop there later on in the day.

mrf6969 07-18-2024 01:39 PM

Appliance Direct. You buy it and they do the delivery, no subletting. They keep a huge inventory so much of the time they can deliver the next day. No messing around with them.

My best friend used to own an appliance repair company. He only recommends Speed Queen and has them in his own home. We will be looking at them closely when it’s time..

Most modern washers and dryers are pure junk no matter who installs them. After wasting a lot of money over the years, I now will only use Speed Queen washers and dryers. Locally, Ken&Kerrie or De Santis.or check Speed Queen's website.

Coincidentally, up north, I was in a small town barber shop. The barber was talking to a regular who, I gleaned, was an appliance installer / repairman. The barber was interested in finding an old used 90's or 00's SpeedQueen. Apparently, they are bulletproof and worth their weight in gold and easily repaired and maintained.

While older quality appliances are always better than new, it spoke highly of SpeedQueens. I remember my old manual Maytag basic washers and dryers lasted for years and years and years, while the Samsung / LG types with their computer controllers and fancy bells and whistles fail at high rates and are essentially 5 year disposable.

Yep, true statement right there. Our Samsung dryer had issues under warranty and the repair person stated most of this stuff lasts maybe 10 years now. Rollers went at the 5 year mark and I replaced them myself. Dryer element at around 7 year mark and again I replaced that using YouTube video, parts from Amazon and some patience (same process for the rollers).

Our appliance repair guy in Va would say the same thing. Appliances have become way to complicated and do not last as long as modern stuff.

Happily for us he was able to fix our older stuff as he knew where to get parts.
