Where to buy a new Kia or Hyundai vehicle?

I'm looking to purchase a. New 2025 Kia or Hyundai vehicle. I'm finding that the dealerships are tracking on about $3,000 above MSRP for fees. Is this normal? Has anyone been able to negotiate these fees?

retiredguy123 08-02-2024 06:55 AM

Don't "negotiate". Just refuse to pay the fees.

By the way, Mullinax sells Fords, but they don't try to add any dealer installed options or dealer fees.

Look away from the Villages, you can still use a local for warrenty work. Buy in close to TV you pay the Villages penalty.

Exactly. We went to a Wesley Chapel car dealership even though there was one in both Leesburg and Ocala. Saved about $4,000 by doing so.

fdpaq0580 08-02-2024 09:25 AM

I bought, my Hyundai Tucson at Jenkins in Ocala in 2015. Researched my trade in and decided what I thought was acceptable. Researched the model and options I wanted and what I thought was a good deal. What I wanted to pay minus trade in equalled the "out the door" price I wanted. Then I went. Had my plan to see 3 dealers that day. They knew I wasn't "shopping". I was on a mission. The pressure was on them to meet my specific goals, not theirs. My specs were exceeded and I was very happy with my experience. They didn't get everything they wanted, but the fact I drove home with my new Tucson meant they made money on the deal. Go with realistic expectations. Do your research before you go. Jenkins is no better or worse than other dealers.

Hyundai

Hyundai of Clermont next door to Costco's.

If you're a member of Costco, maybe check out their car-buying program.

Is this normal? Yes Florida full of shyster’s

Kenswing 08-02-2024 09:46 AM

As far as trade ins. We got a little over $2,000 more from Carvana than the dealer wanted to give us. Very simple process. Even though we showed the dealer offers from both Carmax and Carvana they wouldn't budge.

Which dealerships are marking up prices, this would be informative to others. The local Leesburg Hyundai and Kia dealerships are separate companies. Or is it hearsay?

I think most dealers from what I have read on here are putting dealer options on the cars on the lot you cannot necessarily remove like paint protection, etc. Good luck, I would not set foot in a dealership and would buy online if possible. I normally buy used anyhow.

gatorbill1 08-02-2024 11:36 AM

Shop online in both Tampa and Orlando for best deal - both are worth the drive

It's not a dealer option if it is not optional. You can't remove it, but can refuse to pay for it. I won't pay anything for dealer installed items.

This. You must cast a wide net and get them to send you their offers via email. Filter it down and ask if anyone can beat the best price. Know what you want and have them all give price on those specs. Unless you’re buying cars every other month, it’s a small hassle to travel a little for a purchase that is going to last you years.

And all that said, once I make decision, I’m still ready and willing to walk away if they pull anything that increases the out the door price when I show up. I drive them crazy but I’m going to make sure I’M happy, not them. 😁

Teed_Off 08-02-2024 01:31 PM

This is going to sound like a tv commercial … I bought a Telluride from Deland Kia after comparing prices at Ocala and Leesburg, saving thousands.

npwalters 08-02-2024 04:56 PM

I bought my Tucson in Daytona. Better price than Jenkins and I get it serviced in Leesburg. They have been very accommodating about service. Actually, they solicit the service since they get paid via the Hyundai warranty program.

Car haggling

Having sold cars in my past...my tip....refuse their first three quotes. If they let you walk at that point, you know you've got a good deal.
Especially if you shop the last week of a month.
Sales managers have quotas to beat and and are more maleable at the month's end.
Also, online...Cars Direct.

Vinscalese 08-03-2024 05:18 AM

You may want to check insurance rates and coverage availability before the purchase. Read an article this week that based on the theft rate was very high or not even available in some areas.

mschwartzeee 08-03-2024 05:19 AM

Hyuandai dealer in Clermont was excellant!

They are a no-fee, no-BS dealer. Just bought a vehicle from them last month. Great experience. Tim was our salesman and Mike is the Sales Manager we met. Super-easy.

True! Only applies to certain older models that have a key for ignition (not push button). I believe all 2022 and newer models are push button, and thus not impacted by theft/insurance concerns.

We purchased our Kia Sportage at Kia of New port Richey and use Leesburg for service. The drive was worth it to save several thousand dollars. We purchased a plug in hybrid Sportage. Love it! Our MPG is usually 999 since we drive mostly locally, but have the benefit of the gasoline motor when we take a trip.

Dkintzer 08-03-2024 06:03 AM

Mid-May we bought our new 2024 Kia Telluride from DeLand Kia. We visited their web site, saw the car we were looking for in their inventory, called & asked to call us back with their best price given our circumstances which was no trade in & cash. We also said that we were calling other dealers & the best price was were we were going to buy. They were really good, best price, no pressure easy to deal with. One of the best encounters I’ve had with a car dealer in a long time (we actually walked out of Leesburg KIA…REALLY pushy & we had bought our last Sorrento from them in 2017.) If you call DeLand KIA, ask for Gianni. He has been wonderful even after the sale, talking us through some of the newer technology!

yup. clermont hyundai worked for me. I did look around, asked friends, but the place worked for me the sticker price was the actual price. add on tax, title, and registration, which is normal. no nonsense trade in for me, and off I went......just get a copy of what you sign. oh. look for zero financing also...

We ran into that. We complained and they said. Oh we will take those off. It was Jenkins Honda. Are you a Costco
Member. We went through their auto program. Told us which dealer to go to. Great discount. No haggle. No dealer add on fees allowed.

spofford 08-03-2024 06:22 AM

Claremont Hyundai, Wendy in internet sales was our rep. Bought new car back in March. Contacted all dealers mentioned, for me it was best price and location.

jimkerr 08-03-2024 06:25 AM

We just bought two from central Florida Hyundai in Clermont. They have no haggle pricing.

coleprice 08-03-2024 06:36 AM

We got a great deal on a Hyundai Tuscon at Jenkins Hyundai in Leesberg in July 2024 (last month). Nice people and a pleasant, efficient operation.

Many dealerships do this to screw the old timers - hold tight and NEVER do this - I would check with all dealership no matter how far away they are to avoid helping the ACAMMERS!!

f

We purchased our Hyundai Tucson last year at Hyundai of Central Florida in Clermont. Hwy 50.

Great dealer, no up charge on almost all inventory. Actually some factory and dealer incentives. The only car they did have a $1,000 charge was the Tucson Hybrid due to a availability.

maistocars 08-03-2024 06:58 AM

If Kia, try Crystal River Kia - found them to be most receptive to best price.

Dlbonivich 08-03-2024 07:01 AM

Try Wesley Chapel

Dealer Add-ons

When that happens, insist they show you their internal service department invoice. My car had ‘mud guards’ added and their listed cost was $499. OEM on manufacturer Web site was $79. That means their service department would have charged sales department the wholesale price and sales is charging customers grossly inflated profit. EVERYTHING above the sales tax line item is negotiable.

You can shop and negotiate all online once you know what you want. You will get a better deal outside the Village area. Orlando or Tampa

Mrmean58 08-03-2024 07:33 AM

My suggestion is to steer clear of the dealerships in Leesburg and Ocala. I had some comfort using a dealership in Claremont.

Mrmean58 08-03-2024 07:34 AM

You should think this practice is borderline price gauging.

GATORBILL66 08-03-2024 07:43 AM

Why don't you just buy a real car?

The whole purpose for the dealer to install add-ons is to inflate the price and increase their profit. Negotiating these items with the dealer is pointless. I never "negotiate" with a dealer. I just tell them that I won't pay for any add-ons or dealer fees. There are other dealers who don't even try to include these items.

jerryss 08-03-2024 07:47 AM

Costco auto program

You fill out a form on the web site. They give you the names of 3-4 nearby dealers and the estimated prices

You meet the internet manager, he gives you the fixed price for cars available in the area and you are done!

Easy, no haggling, it’s a fair price

Joanne and Mike 08-03-2024 07:52 AM

We got an excellent price on our hybrid at Hyundai of Clermont . No added on dealer fees. Located next to Costco

SophieP 08-03-2024 08:04 AM

Beware of Hyundai of Clermont

We bought a Tucson Limited in Clermont 2 years ago and traded a Lexus valued at $10,000 more than the cost of the Hyundai. You don't walk out with a check for the trade difference....we waited nearly a month and made numerous phone calls to get the check. Even worse than that is the fact that they transferred the license plate for us, but apparently cancelled the transfer an hour later so we drove an unregistered new Tucson for weeks before we discovered their deceptive practices. We didn't find out until we went to the Registry to obtain a printed title for our new car and had to get the state involved to get our check and registration straightened out. It wasn't an honest mistake, but according to the agent in Tallahassee, they wanted to sell the trade to avoid paying fees for the trade difference....guess they hoped we wouldn't find out! The State of Florida did fine them for these deceptive practices.
