well they tried

I'll give the Daily Sun delivery people a big E for effort.. when I ventured out to get the paper between squalls about 5:15 this morning I picked up the double bagged paper and it had about 3-4" of water in the bags .. needless to say I won't be reading the paper this morning

gorillarick 08-05-2024 07:32 AM

You missed the story about the garbage guys not coming !

asianthree 08-05-2024 07:38 AM

Mine was dry both bags tied at end. Ur guy goes extra mile

villagetinker 08-05-2024 07:42 AM

Ours was dry this morning also, double bagged and the open end was toward the street, so the rain did not enter. I have had the same situation you had in the past, highly dependent on how the newspaper ends up on the ground.

I really do not understand the concept of still getting papers (free or subscription) when you can see it on that computer thinggy or a grandpad (same thing as coming to read this forum on a daily basis)? Are you not risking those delivery peoples safety on a day like today? Forget about the paper, plastic and fuel needed to deliver the things, IMO. Flame on.

Surprisingly our paper deliverer only single bagged it and paper weighs a lot now. Never happened before, wonder if we have new person?

Today isn't much different than any other rain storm day. A lot of us are old school and like getting the paper daily in print.

SOAKING WET! If Charlie Brown was real, he would have drown.
There is always tomorrow.

First time this ever happened so let it go, but if it is only single bagged again in wet weather will complain

This doesn't mean I'm giving you a gift.

Remember if your DS was lost or wet, a dry one was handed to at your front door. Now if you call they give you a .50 credit

I don't think I could bring myself to call after carrying the paper for 4 years when I was a kid.

Ubieland 08-05-2024 03:30 PM

Ours was delivered at 10:30 last night and doubled bagged. My guess is, most papers were delivered much earlier due to the incoming storm.

They don’t have to deliver when conditions are unsafe.

Personally, I get many papers, all digitally, except the Daily Sun. I like to do the crossword puzzles etc on the paper itself. And when I am finished, I use the paper under my canvass that I am doing art on.

I like this paper so much that when I don’t get to read it, I keep the Home sections etc and bring all the issues back with me up north. Where I finish reading them at my leisure and anticipation of when I get to go back to TV again.

Spend enough time on my desktop, like reading the paper over breakfast

So what is that - hyperbole or melodrama? Never could tell the two apart.

Certainly, if you can't drive a car safely in 24mph winds then maybe you're in the wrong job delivering papers, but to blame subscribers beggars belief.

I do blame the subscribers because the few subscribers that do not accept digital and want the paper to deliver. I saw so many different revolving door delivery drivers up north most had a car that was on its last leg and one with a muffler you could hear in the morning. I would read online (Facebook) people upset when that paper did not arrive on time or at all so it just seems fitting to ask why and it seems familiar here, imo. Sure, the driver refuses to deliver and they find someone else to prevent getting yelled at. There are papers at the stores so there are options for that 24mph wind drive.

When they make you the emperor you can make decisions for the rest of us. Until that happens will continue to have the paper delivered daily.

I brought our paper in about the same time and thought for sure it was going to be drenched but it was dry. I was surprised. Better than the trash pick up...they stated pick up as regular even though the storm was on its way. Then we heard that they were able to pick up however wouldn't be able to pick up people who normally have afternoon pickups. They always pick up by 6:30a at the latest. They must've been instructed to go to 'other areas' first.... They made Daily Sun look really good this morning! lol
