Our overflow is a 3/4" pipe and it's been running full stream for hours, another 4 inches of rain and we won't need the pipe.

Dr.SammieMD 08-05-2024 04:29 PM

Just under 8 inches in Richmond between yesterday and today.

My six inch rain gauge overflowed between 2pm Sunday and 2pm Monday. Quarter inch since then. Village of Tamarind Grove.

All Villages homes should have automatic rain sensors built into every home to stop watering grass when it rains. But as for The Villages streets and golf courses … they’ll water before and after the rain as they attempt to redistribute water around into non flood zones. Very Smart 🤙

Jimmay 08-06-2024 06:39 AM

4 1/2 we got 9 1/2 in pine hills

rjn5656 08-06-2024 06:51 AM

rain

Neighbor on Eureka's rain garage spilled over at 7 inches. My gauge only goes to 5.

I’m in the northern end of TV and have emptied my rain gauge 3 times for a total of 13 inches!

My sprinklers have been off for about 2 months.

rsmurano 08-06-2024 07:40 AM

According to my PWS, we got over 6” over the 2 days

jarodrig 08-06-2024 08:20 AM

4.4 over two days @ Citrus Grove

Burnie 08-06-2024 08:23 AM

What's with this obsession about rainfall? Been here for over 20 years (Village of Bonnybrook) and never had any flooding problem.

No obsession here . We’re on our third home since 2005 and no flooding issues at any.

I just think folks like to compare the amount and then jibber jabber over the results ! :):):)

Ditto, pools gonna need a 40 lb bag of salt.

jojo 08-06-2024 09:27 AM

A number of residents are on vacation (some for a couple months) and their rain sensors probably no longer work. Those darn rain sensors are rather “finicky”.

laryb 08-06-2024 10:48 AM

We had 5' -1/4" in Buttonwood

We seem to be a bunch of jibber jabbers

Guilty as charged ! ;)

Nana2Teddy 08-06-2024 03:13 PM

We got almost 6” in DeLuna. We had several ponds that were very low for a long time, and a couple that were totally empty and dry, and now they’re all full. Even our large preserve by the postal station/pool looks more like a pond now than a preserve.

Times are changing. The whole Earth keeps getting warmer starting about 10 years ago. So the air is warmer which allows it to hold more moisture. More moisture, more rain.

The ponds may look pretty today, but as the summer continues, people may find catfish swimming in their living rooms.

I'm going to start shopping for a helmet, for when the sky falls. I wonder if tinfoil would be the best material for a good one?
