Olympics Closing Ceremony
In our opinion, a HUGE ho hum.
Much of it was too dark and quite odd. Then the Tom Cruise 20 minute expose. Too much Hollywood and way too much TC. Then the shift over to CA and Hollywood and beach ‘music’. Way more odd. Looks as if we can wait 4 more years then selectively watch as we did with this one. We dvrd everything so we fwd they all commercials and yada. We are getting old and our viewing habits have changed as well. Don’t like odd. The gal that sang our National Anthem at the Paris Closing was superb. |
We’s think the national anthem was lip synced….or so it appeared.

For some reason didnt get into it much this year

Much of the entertainment seemed aimed at people most of the athletes' ages. Say teens to mid-thirties. |
I liked the start of the Closing Ceremony before the athletes came on the stadium floor. The garden of Tuileries with the Olympic flame and the orchestra were a class act. But when the white mummies pretending to be from another planet, tried some gymnastic dance moves - it came across as quite pathetic after having just seen the best in the world performing similar moves. You’d need nothing less than Cirque d’Solieil if you want to try that. The musical medley near the end was mediocre. I dislike Tom Cruise so that was a downer for me. The whole thing struck me as low budget. It was not a great way to end such a triumphant event before the world. Sorry, Paris, from you, I expected better!

Me too with limited events coverage. |
Didn’t watch any of it, stunk
|
I’m glad our tv’s are done with this stuff for two years until the winter games.
|
Weird, just weird.
|
That's why TV companies make it really easy to change channels.

Mark my words...
In FOUR YEARS, the Europeans will HATE the Olympics in Los Angeles for all these same reasons... We are the world. |
Avant garde - new or unusual, experimental ideas, ahead of its time

Very good coverage. We even purchased a new large QLED tv with all the bells and whistles to watch it on. |
After the Tom Cruise scene (which I personally thought was tongue in cheek entertaining) the tone went down hill (FAST).....from the sophistication of Europe to the pits of rap, crotch grabbing, butt wiggling restless beings.
Let's hope for better portrayal of what is USA in the future!!! |
Boring, compared to the opening event, despite its' controversial parts. Tom Cruise being lowered by a wire from the roof was a joke. The beach stuff at Los Angeles made me thankful that it was years away. Luckily, I watched on a DVR recording and gave the FF button a real workout. Would have been torture to watch it "live".
