Florida's Friendliest Hometown...

...until you go to pick up the newspaper and find some ignoramus has left a bag of their dog's excrement on your driveway

yes, it has never happened before and, hopefully, will never happen again, but still a shock to the system first thing

At least they didn't light it on fire :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

dewilson58 08-13-2024 09:08 AM

Where did you get the DNA test to determine it was a Village Dog???

:faint:

Bogie Shooter 08-13-2024 09:13 AM

Are they sending you a message?

MrFlorida 08-13-2024 11:06 AM

At least it was in a bag.

tophcfa 08-13-2024 11:12 AM

Not defending whoever left it there, but they could have planned on picking it up on their loop back? There is no excuse for leaving it in someone’s driveway, but I have seen people leave the bag in a common area and pick it up on their return loop.

Blueblaze 08-13-2024 11:16 AM

It probably fell out of their cart or something.

Friendly people don't jump to conclusions about their neighbors from one isolated (and frankly, a little bit weird) incident.

mco1965 08-13-2024 11:20 AM

Dogs.. who needs 'em?

Teed_Off 08-13-2024 11:25 AM

If you’re determined to find out who done it, find out which one of your neighbor’s dog likes to read.

Amazing!

You have this disgusting thing happen to you and there are still people jumping to the defense of the perpetrator: They planned to pick it up on their next lap, or it fell out of their golf cart.

Please! They are just ignorant and selfish and knew they couldn't be traced. Say it like it is.

I think you may be right - there was a note attached saying I'd won a DeWalt tool kit...

I'm going to err on the side of an innocent incident until proven otherwise. Call me Pollyanna if you want but its the way to go, I'm confident of it. People are good in general, we have some of the best of the best here, ok a few rotten apples here and there. Out of 150,000 folks 145,000 are fantastic (leave out ToTV participants and the ratio gets even better).

Well that's a load off my mind. I've had excrement left on my driveway and you're okay with that.

Exactly what proof do you need? The person knocking on my door and saying "It's a fair cop" while you listen in?

Why would someone go to the trouble of bagging it up only to leave it in your driveway. If they're intention was to leave it anywhere they would left it right where the dog left it.

Ask Taltarzac725, he found a lost poop under his hat!

thelegges 08-13-2024 03:47 PM

Our old neighborhood, every week multiple photos posted on website, from cameras, of person with blocked out face, but dog clearly using others yard, and no pick up.
Some found it funny, those whose dog was in pic was unhappy, but it did fix the issue.

Some posted block out the dogs face, they are innocent, post the human.

Outside cameras can be informative and entertaining

That is why you have a driveway camera. Up north, the other day I was quite upset that there was poop on my porch steps. I looked in my camera’s recordings to see which dog, which owner? I found that the animal responsible was a very large raccoon.

I guess we should be thankful for small mercies.

Maybe carrying a bag of excrement around with them was not their favorite part of the walk?

Yeah but why not just carry the bag and dispose properly? We walk our dog daily and after she drops her load we simply use the poo bags to pick it up and continue our walk to discard at home. If you own a dog it is not a big deal. Just like changing a baby’s diaper is not a big deal. And, no, I’m not trying to equate the two - just saying they are both natural.

I often leave the doggie bag by the curb because I pick it up on the way back. I see no reason to carry it for several miles if I can get it on the return trip. I leave it by the curb, not in someone's driveway. Isn't it possible the person who left the bag would have picked it up on the way back?

A thought to live a happier life:

If you do not know, you have to make up a story. If you are already play pretending, you might as well make up a nice story rather than a mean one. You will be happier and it is all play pretend anyway.

I didn't realize how much I missed a dog poop thread until now.

Indydealmaker 08-14-2024 08:03 AM

Probably just accidentally dropped. Chill.

I think this thread is more about positive vs negative thinking, the poop is just a catalyst.

Actually I thought it was a great response, because I’ve been that person.
I was dog sitting for a friend…taking the pup on two walks a day.
I like dogs, but I’m not exactly a lover of carrying poop bags.
I’d clean up after the dog and leave the bag on the curb as we walked on. I’d pick up the bag on the return loop and take it home.
So yea…people do this

Rocksnap 08-14-2024 08:16 AM

Thinking one of two thoughts. Someone making a loop walk didn’t want to carry the bag all the way around, and you picked it up before they returned.
Or, they just don’t like you.
I’m thinking the first option.

Sorry, not interested in seeing little green poop bags left on the sides of the roads waiting for a hopeful return from the owner. Your dog, your poop, take it with you. No excuses accepted.

LeRoy, I think you have something here. As we all know, "our attitude eventually determines our altitude."

Shamrocker 08-14-2024 10:44 AM

Maybe ask a neighbor with a security cam if they have video of the poo-petrator?!

(sorry i couldn't help myself)

The responsible thing to do, is to let your dog poop on your OWN property, BEFORE you take them for a walk. Carry a baggie just in case of late-walk mishaps, and carry the poop with you, never leave it "for the return loop" because honestly - that just super rude to the person whose property you've chosen to deposit your trash. Even temporarily.

"Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity" (Hanlon's razor)

I tend to agree with the poster of the above quote. Undoubtedly there are some folks here in TV who would think nothing of doing such a thing (or in some cases even think it was funny) but overall I think the odds of this happening maliciously are pretty low. Fell off a golf cart--carrying two bags and dropped one accidentally--put it down to do something with Rover's leash, answer the phone, or whatever and then just forgot to pick it up--and so on. Any one of a number of such scenarios are probably more likely than a malicious or childish someone doing the deed.

If it repeats--then come up with a plan of action. Otherwise just drop it. Life is too short.

Yep. I have a dog, and I would never think to not carry the bag until I got home. Don't be lazy. If you think carrying the poop a few blocks is too unpleasant, buck up.

Life is short in general, even shorter for us old folks! I don't want to spend my last days thinking the worse of folks or being angry for any reason.

Ignorant and selfish. They picked up poop and put it in a bag. Someone who does not pick up poop and put it in a bag is ignorant and selfish. The comments are correct.
