Library on 466A

Does anyone know if the new library on 466a near Wildwood is open yet? Was going to phone the library but realized its a holiday and the library won't be open. Appreciate your help.

New library

Thank you. I recently discovered a delightful book series by Jan Karon. Her Father Tim books are a joy to read, and I quite by accident read the first in the series available in large print. Now I cant wait to read the sequel. Guess I'll be patient for the new library to open as I don't think Belevedere had a copy available.

A site on Bing ----http://www.hotbooksale.com/store/productsList.aspx?page=2&SearchAuthor=Karon+Jan -----has her books at excellent prices if you want to purchase her books.

Did you know that the Sumter County Library System is online? You can reserve books online from any library in the system, not just The Villages. They will order the book for you and have it delivered to whichever library is closest to you (I use the Belvedere Branch). When it arrives at the library near you, they call you on the phone to tell you it is "In" and you have three days to stop by to pick it up. No charge for that service either (other than your tax dollars). Next time you visit the library, ask about starting your online account. No charge for that either. By the way, online has a search feature to let you locate any book in their system and then reserve it. It there is a waiting list for a book, it lets you know where you are on the list.

The new library is already open. We went in there yesterday. Great looking place. Fantastic DVD collection. I assume people from Wildwood have access to it also???

No, it's not golf cart accessible. At least, not now.

I read those books a long time ago, they are very enjoyable....Is it Mittford where Father Tim is? I may have to read them again now that you reminded me of them

Avista 01-21-2011 07:29 AM

Yes, all the Mittford books are wonderful.

As far as other books go. I used to always request them from Sumter county library online. Someone would call when they came in. Works very well.

Now I have a Nook e-reader and either buy my book--usually at about 9.99 and many less or even free. Or, I borrow my book from Philadelphia Free Library $15 for the card since I live in FL, but they have a nice selection or e-books to borrow.

I had heard that Sweetbay was to build immediately to the east of the county building and library. Has construction of Sweetbay started?

Its a public library. anybody with a Sumter County library card can go. the libraries are under the jurisdiction of Sumter County. Wildwood consolidated its library services with Sumter County to eliminate redundancy in services. The old Wildwood library on Huey Street is now closed.

The library on 466A IS the Wildwood library, or what used to be the Wildwood library. I used to use that one because it was better than The Villages Library, for the things I was looking for. There were plans to build a new library in the area and the 466A Sumter County library is the result. Glad to know it is open....Where is the door?? That building/parking lot is a bit confusing. Thanks.

Library

We are confused about the location of the new library. The newspaper
said it was on 466 --- We drove down 466 but couldn't locate it.

Is it on 466A as stated in some of the previous threads?
We are new here and would appreciate directions or a landmark we
could use to find it. We couldn't even find Powell rd. anywhere on a map
which was also noted in the Newspaper.

Appreciate any feedback

Go south on Buena Vista and turn right at 466A, about 2 miles look for the new Sumter County Services building on your left, park in front, the library is in that building.

Enter through the main door on the west side and the Library is on the left.
