Does anyone have a clear, folding, vented Yamaha windshield.
 

I have been searching long and hard for a replacement windshield for our 2014 Yamaha EFI. I specifically want a clear (not tinted) folding windshield with the sliding vents on the bottom panel. I can easily find the vented folding windshield in the tinted version, but for the life of me I can’t find a clear one. If anyone has one, I’d appreciate learning where you were able to purchase it.

Have you tried online, I know of at least 10 online golf cart sites that sell lots of accessories, and probably Amazon.

When I ordered my 2023 cart a clear vented version was not available, only tinted. I would much rather have a clear windshield also.

Yes, I have checked extensively online. Lots of different options for both clear and tinted folding windshields, but I can only find the vented ones tinted.

Now that is interesting, I will be looking to change our tinted vented windshield soon, so I guess I will be in the same situation. I will let you know if I find a source.

Please let us all know, because I have recently been in discussions with The Villages Golf Cars & they only sell the tinted.

I found one just like your asking for except it's tinted so I called the company and asked if they did it in clear. After some asking around they said they didn't do it in clear and they didn't know of anyone that does. Sorry I thought I was going to get you a lead. Red dot golf cart accessories .

Thanks for trying, I keep running into the same thing. Why multiple manufacturers only make vented windshields with the tinted option is beyond me? Oh well, I’d rather have a clear non vented than a tinted vented windshield. Tinting really cuts down on night visibility and it is very difficult to look through the bottom half of a tinted windshield when it’s flipped down (looking through two tinted panels). To me tinting is worthless anyway. When it sunny out I have the windshield flipped down and am wearing sunglasses. The only time I flip the windshield up is when it’s raining, so no tinting necessary.

I only use tinted windshields especially in the Florida sun. Most adults should be looking out of the top half not the bottom half, and if you are looking thru the bottom half, I would not be looking at the vented windshield because those vents would really obscure your view.

We got ours from Villages golf carts at LSL - we had to replace the original one on our 2016 Yamaha as it was cracked.

Go to Amazon they have them for under $200

Ours on our 2014 Yamaha cracked just last Spring and I bought one on Amazon. I do think it was mildly tinted but they had others. I’d suggest you take a look. They might have a clear one.

I agree. Early on we rented one that had a tinted windshield and driving home from the square that evening I thought I was going blind! Lol.

I had the same problem last year trying to find a clear vented fold-down windshield. I must have checked every golf cart accessory place on the web with no luck. I ended up just going with the tinted.

Ha, I asked the person at Red Dot why no clear and they said no one uses them. We are likely unique in the golf cart world, most folks probably use them primarily for golf.

how about buying clear and then cutting the plexiglass and inserting the vents ourselves? maybe a side business opportunity for customization?

Just a thought as I know plexiglass can be cut, but its also susceptible to cracking if not done correctly. .

This would be a lot of work, especially if the slots needed to be smoothed. Cutting or drilling plexiglass seems to require some lubricant to avoid the material heating up too much and melting. I use water most of the time. Actually it would probably be easier to save the bottom piece with the slots, and replace the top piece, but I have NOT tried to do this.

I typically embrace a project, but as VT pointed out, that’s a lot of work and I could easily end up damaging a brand new windshield. Looks like I’ll just go with a non vented clear replacement windshield. When I drive by myself the windshield is folded down 99% of the time it’s not raining anyways (the exception would be an unusually cold winter night if I forget to bring a hat). The only time the venting would be nice is when I’m driving with my wife and she wants the windshield flipped up because she doesn’t want the wind to mess up her hair (although I prefer the wind blown look). You would think there would be a profitable market for vented clear windshields with the growth of the personal transportation vehicle market and associated amount of night driving. Oh well, go figure?

Thanks to everyone who suggested places that sell windshields. Unfortunately, nobody has a version that is folding, clear, and vented. I gave up searching and ordered a regular clear folding windshield with no venting. I did spring for a bit extra expense to get a thicker (1/4 vs 3/16 inch thick) impact resistant style.
