Golf cart poll

In your golfing life, how many times had your golf cart straps come lose and your clubs fall off? I'm not talking about your "friends" playing a joke, actually just come lose and fall off while driving?

I will go first, 30 years of golfing and it never happened until yesterday and it happened three times!

Bogie Shooter 09-16-2024 06:36 AM

Can’t hardly wait for the replies…..

several times on our golf cart, the strap lock / strap combination is slippery and not as tight as a the course carts. So we use some short bungee cords to keep the bags from falling out. .

Not yet, I guess I haven't had enough Fireball .

I have a security cable and lock around my bag so never.

I bring the cable even if I play outside TV.

Once. It was after we retired and moved "north" (south Fl natives) to this part of Florida. Never lost clubs from loose strap on golf cart until after moving here, left old cart and bought new one when we came.... then it happened in the tunnel under 466 ! There was sufficient noise to let me know immediately what happened. Felt terrible for the cart BEHIND me in the tunnel ! Apologized profusely, but carts behind were able to stop (great lesson for NOT following too close !) and clubs did not have any damage other than scratched putter since I had not bothered to put the head cover on that club !

Once on our 2019 Yamaha. Wife's clubs fell off going through Brownwood. Scratched two clubs without covers. Plus, blocked traffic for a couple minutes. No Fireball was involved. Now I use a plastic carpenter's hand clamp on the end of the strap just behind the regular clamp as a backup. A couple friends had trouble and made a Velcro strap to hold the clamp lever closed. They were able to attach the Velcro to the frame with a rivet.

Mother never lost them off golf cart as far as I know. She would have used the strap to bind them.

No one else in the Villages Taltarzac725 family golfs.

Rwirish 09-17-2024 05:20 AM

Never

cwmmfink 09-17-2024 06:29 AM

Maybe the pull cart is to cheap. Maybe find a lot more expensive pull cart. I’ve had the same pull cart for maybe 18 yrs. & never had an issue with it, maybe they use to make pull carts better than now. Who knows!

Rich42 09-17-2024 07:40 AM

18 years, never happened.

Happened once. I felt very foolish. Fortunately the person behind me was a good guy. He reassured me that I'm not the only one it happens to. I felt a little better but always use a backup bungee now.

Once. Since then I have bicycle cable lock as a secondary bag holder, and theft deterrent.

Oh I Wish

The way I've been playing lately, I wish they would fall off...

For what it is worth, if your post title says it's going to be a poll, it should be a poll post. This is not. Posting a poll is an option when you are making a post. Scroll down a little below the narrative field and the submit button to options like "notify me when there is a reply."

One of those options is "Post a poll." You select how many options the poll will have (up to 10) and then it will prompt you to label those options for people to select. It will also show the results as a simple bar graph.

TOTV Lesson Of The Day.

ZERO times in 40 years of playing.

I saw that happening so often when we first moved here 10 years ago, I attached short bungee cords to my basket to hook to our bags when it’s on the cart. When we go off campus, I take the cords with us.

dewilson58 09-17-2024 06:57 PM

Where's the poll??

Did you say something? I'm too busy with important things.

Laker14 09-18-2024 04:16 AM

to answer the question:never to me, but I've seen it.

It happened to a friend while we were playing. I was in the cart behind, as we pulled off the tee box. It was obvious that the latch/strap was "tired"...no bungee cord handy. What worked well enough to get him through the round was to double back, i.e. fold back, the strap so there were two thickness going through the latch/buckle.

I'm sure the "tired" pieces can be replaced. Not sure if he ever did that or just relies on the double -back technique now.
