In all 5 of our neighborhoods, trash was picked up with no issues. Of course we are 48 hours out TV station and Alexa is already sending alerts
|
There might be a special notification placed on or pushed from districtgov.org.
If something is made official then the online news source which shall not be named will likely carry it. Now that this thread has been started I'm sure someone will post any official information that is released. My personal guess: Unless the storm strengthens significantly and turns to pass directly overhead, normal trash pickup will occur. |
Sanitation information for Thursday is up on district gov.org now

TROPICAL STORM HELENE DISTRICT UPDATE 9/24/24 5 PM
While emergency management continues to be a function of the county where you reside, the District works extremely hard to ensure the safety of District staff, residents of The Villages, and District facilities. Due to the change in weather predictions and in preparation for strong winds and heavy rain caused by Tropical Storm Helene, the following actions will be taken: DISTRICT OFFICES: Currently, all District offices will remain open for normal business hours on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. SANITATION: Sanitation services North of SR44 for Thursday, September 26, 2024, are canceled. For those affected, collection will occur on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Friday, September 27, 2024, pickup is scheduled as normal. COMMUNITY WATCH: All gate arms will be removed at midnight (early Thursday, September 26, 2024). When approaching a gate, please stop and use caution before proceeding. RECREATION: Currently, all indoor and outdoor facilities will remain open on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. I |

If your south of 44, forget your trash pickup day. It’s just like another holiday, you’ll hold your trash until Monday 9/30. There are 6 such holidays like that in 2024 - now this makes 7.
Don’t worry- you pay the same trash rates as those living North of 44. |

I am impressed with how precise the weather forecasting is. North of 44 will have strong winds and heavy rain and south of 44, we will have lovely weather! |

Maybe I should have read through this thread, then I would have seen the same information in posts 6, 11, 26, 28, and 31. (and the day is not over so I'm sure there will be more) EDIT: ...and 34 … and 35 Or I could read the two emails I received from DistrictGov. But probably I personally don't care since I don't have Thursday trash pickup and I was just trying to help someone new. |
