A hit piece. Sensationalism at its finest, and the truth be damned.

Area churches filling Christmas shoeboxes for underprivileged children, Villagers volunteering to tutor local children, "honey-do" programs where Villagers with physical handicaps preventing them from doing basic things like shopping, yardwork and light maintenance can depend on the help of other Villagers to do those things, etc., are far more characteristic of The Villages than this piece of garbage, but unfortunately people click on the garbage first. Sleaze sells. People helping people often doesn't.

As Winston Churchill once observed, "a lie can get halfway around the world before the truth can get its pants on". And American society 2024 version seems to have an insatiable appetite for the lies.

I read some of the transcript. Pure BS about what he repeatedly calls Suter County. Or, what the transcript writer calls Suter County. The speaker may be saying Sumter.

He is just angry at everything!!!! I guess people didn't cater to him while he was here.

Or. ....he doesn't live here and is jealous..........Or....he is a realtor and can't sell new builds.............or he thinks that just because there is a majority of people here with similar ideas, that they are bad ideas, or he is a developer for another over 55 area..................OR................he is a danged kid...a little snot, who hasn't been........ummmm I guess I can use the word; Redirected?!!?

I do not get out much but only remember one fist fight between Villagers. This was at a local dog park over some petty disagreement and one of those involved worked weekends at the antique warehouse in Mt. Dora. We have been in the Villages since July of 2005.

I got through about 5:00 before deciding enough neurons had been damaged by that weapons-grade ignorance.

I'm surprised that there's very few comments on the YouTube post pointing out the specific inaccuracies.

I was listening to this video but there was so much bull **** in it that I had to stop half way. The narrator often confuses the whole of Sumter county with The Villages portion, not realizing that TV is actually made up of other counties too. He takes 5 or 6 case out of a population of 150,000 to try to illustrate as a common occurrence… etc etc. it is HE that is looking for a confrontation. I would guess paid by a competitor?

Every time you create threads like this and post links to what is, IMO, a troll piece.....you ‘let the bad guys win’!
TV, with its 150K pop., has had documentaries, movies, videos and local ‘fish wraps’ creating similar narratives and editorials for years. Yet at least here on this forum, it’s the same dozen or so that comment on it and create the ‘buzz’...where is the outrage from the super majority of Villages residents? It doesn’t exist because content ‘creators’ like this know their audience. I fall into the super majority of....who cares! Save your energy for the next one....which we all know there will be others by the aforementioned....except when it does, go for a walk/run/swim, play pickle ball or a round of golf....and let it slide!

It is best to get the facts out there especially on Talk of the Villages.

I can't help but notice that the video on the cart path seems as tho the driver is drunk. He keeps swerving into the bushes. Then, when coming to a stop sign, he goes right thru without even slowing down. And some of the video isn't even in The Villages. It's on Hwy 44. When describing the cart paths, he has it all wrong. He obviously doesn't understand round-abouts and the need for golf carts to stay off of them. There is so much more wrong with his description of The Villages, I can't even list everything here.

Another uninformed idiot wanting to tear down TV driven by jealousy, IMHO.

Well that was fun in a weird way. He reminds of that comic strip The Born Loser. The video at around 40 minutes of him and his wife did not surprise me at all.

Definitely a lot of made up information. I looked into his channel and he states this is for entertainment. He thinks this is funny. Not very funny to us who live here. But now he is getting a lot of clicks on his You Tube channel since someone posted it and we are curious to see what he said. So guess it works.

Ditto. He is making a buck probably the only way he knows how to make a buck. Besides sounding a bit hung over with marbles in his mouth mispronouncing words over and over, he couldn’t find one single positive thing to say about the community. Maybe he just needs to move on and keep his opinions to himself.

I’d say he used a lot of dramatization and a lot of satire!!. I would suggest he might want to go back to grade school to learn how to spell.

Yet, again, you all are taking his bait on what appears to be an empty hook! Who is the real ‘idiot’? YouTube is a revenue stream....and you have plenty of ‘creators’ within our own borders who operate under the same terms. Doesn’t matter if it’s satire, fact or fiction...you all just inflated his piggy bank and his ego!

I recommend Michael and Tiffany (TVE) on YouTube for Villages content. No agenda and a nice couple!

If the creator of the so called video you are referring to had a brain, he would be arrested for smuggling. Years ago another individual wrote about the great life grandparents were having in The Villages, but he thought they should be back home watching their grandchildren. Talk about morons.

That is actually a pretty good book written around 2004-2005. The Villages is very different now.

What a “spin” on The Villages. Bizarre, and filled with inaccurate information and way too long. Maybe one or two minutes that I could identify with but overall a piece of garbage. There is little filter on You-Tube.

I remember reading about an assault at one of the country clubs when a villager assaulted another villager thanked he had scratched his car.

I did not watch it but did he mention the new Hooters coming to TV!

If you're an intrusive, obnoxious person poking around the Villages this is the view you're likely to receive. A person's personality is usually reflected back to them.
