New building on 301, south of 44 & north of turnpike?
 

Lots of sand & dirt being brought to this site. Aiello Construction sign but no info on what’s going to be built. Any ideas? Thanks

I was wondering the same. It looks from this fairly recent zoning map that it's zoned for "commercial activities".

How far south of 44, east or west side of 301? What is it near?

West side just north of the Villagers RV Park.

Maybe it's a cell phone parking lot where you can hang out waiting for the congestion on 301 to clear up. :)

Heard they are building a send Costco.

it's another shopping strip, I believe it will have 6 or 8 stores

There was a FB post a few days ago stating TJs is now looking for a location to build in TV. They were deciding between TV and Ocala, and chose TV. Maybe just another unsubstantiated rumor, but the OP seemed very confident with her inside info. Hoping it’s true, and especially hoping if true it progresses faster than Costco is at this point.

you can be sure it's not Trader Joes, they don't build stand alone buildings with easy access parking lots. They like strip malls with no parking.

As if the congestion is not intolerable enough here.

And skinny aisles packed full of stuff so you can't get your buggy through.

FWIW, I know several SoCal TJ's that are standalone.

Just what we need another strip mall. So that would include a nail salon a Chinese restaurant maybe another insurance agency and what else can we think of? A dental office

Wasn’t there a previous thread about this property when Goldwing pointed out site months ago. Fun thread about what we don’t need more of in a new strip mall.

This "strip mall" seems to be more for vendors that you would visit infrequently like insurance companies, mattress stores or a flooring store. It's on a divided section of 301 and is only accessibly to Southbound traffic. I doubt anything too exciting will be located there.

According to a Sumter County Commissioner, Costco Wholesale Corporation will open sometime in 2025 on County Road 466, next to the Hobby Lobby and behind Fresh Market.

4 banks and a Walgreens.

The Villages bought all the land on the other side of 301 behind the hotel that runs along the turnpike so keep watching.

The one in Dr. Phillips stands alone, and we’ve never had trouble parking.

Yes, I’ve heard this too, but so far they haven’t done anything on that lot yet. That’s my point.

Same here with the SoCal TJs. It’s where we shopped weekly, though our closest one (5 minute walk) was in a shopping center with a Ralph’s supermarket and several other stores and restaurants, so it had a lot of parking.

Wow, another empty strip mall? Maybe Bargains and Blessings can put in an outlet? Wawa isn’t doing the area any favors. Ask yourself what is happening to the existing strip mall that’s a ghost town on the corner. Ever since WinnDixie pulled out the place has been dead.

Same here - I lived just 5 minutes from a stand-alone TJs - was part of huge shopping area with Costco, Lowe’s and many good restaurants. Busy for sure, but always able to find parking.

That strip mall on the corner of 301/44 is just sad. I even heard that two of the few remaining vendors (nail salon and Chinese restaurant) were being forced out by increased rents. Insane to be increasing rents on a 90% abandoned strip mall.

The North bound Turnpike exit to SR301 is a safety hazard. exit traffic backed up on the turnpike. Wreck in the waiting...

I go to the Nail Salon there. They’re definitely not being forced out. They’ve been there over 16 yrs and have an established and thriving business.

I believe the owners are the same as Premier Medical Practices. They probably should make the center more appealing which would included a new parking lot. It’s an eyesore.

Now that ODOT has created a traffic mess going north as well as south, how can any Zoning Board agree to more construction? I know ... more tax revenue. Well, this board needs to go!

It's been empty because they didn't let tenants renew their leases.The barber shop had to leave when new owners bought it and that was years ago.

Well, they better get busy when by there last week still hay field.

Maybe wildwood will have shuttle from the down town parking garage. Wildwood parking garage?:shrug: I’ve seen more activity in ghost town than down town wildwood. :pepper2:But there are lots of passer Byers though.
