Lawn maintenance
 

I'm looking for a lawn service that mows, trims shrubs, and takes care of weeds. Any suggestions. My current maintenance company is charging what I believe is too much...

Good luck. Finding a company to mow is easy, but I cannot find anyone to trim shrubs and/or do weeding.

Try Chads Lawn service, they do Alacarte services, I believe they will be able tohelp you.

Hard to find do your neighbors have such a vendor?

They do it all. Mow, trim shrubs and monthly weeding.

But, they don't do irrigation maintenance and repair. Massey does.

There's plenty of small businesses that specialize in only irrigation maintenance and repair and would much prefer to hire them if something comes up than have the guy that cuts the grass to start dealing with my system.

Yes, but they are about 2 to 3 times as expensive as Massey, and they are not always available when you need them. They may come every quarter, but, if you have a leak between checkups, they will charge you the same price as a new customer. Do you have the name of a company who can compete in price with Massey, which is $40 per quarter? ACI wanted to charge me $80 to just come out and "evaluate" my system.

I use Choice Maintenance too. The trim and pull weeds every month.

I need a company who will trim my shrubs every 4 months or so, not every month. Do you know a company who will do that?

Good luck! We were all looking for a company that would do that on a reliable basis and at a decent cost. I fired the company I hired when I 1st moved here after only 2 months and doing everything myself. Most of my neighbors have done the same thing. Have you noticed that some of the worst looking lawns have these maintenance companies signs in their front yard after they applied an application of fertilizer? I’d be ashamed and wouldn’t want people to know they were responsible for a bad looking lawn

I used “a guy” to cut grass as he does about 5 houses surrounding mine weekly and I like to see all connecting yards cut at the same time.. $60 / month. I then have Choice Maintenance come do weeds and shrubs every month… $30 / month

Sorry, trimming is quarterly.

thanks for this info. I had Chad's come out and even though I asked for an estimate for weeding, when they came over they said "we don't do that".

We started using Martinez lawn service. We have only been using them a short time but they seem to be doing a great job. All their references that he gave me came back great so we thought we would try them. They do mowing trimming and also weed service in flowerbeds. They are a smaller company and I’m sure would do other things if you would require. Their phone number is 352-250-2471. Their rates are reasonable.

Do not go with DEANS- they are SCAMMERS - you have been warned - I know as they scammed me !

We have been using Vera Landscaping for 4 years and with much satisfaction. They regularly mow and by request will weed garden areas and trim trees, hedges and bushes. Call 352-571-0992. You’re welcome. :)

Retiredguy123: I've had the "pleasure" of using Massey twice for a streatch of about a year each time. They are the only company I fired twice! They are the least conscientious of all services.

Hired Massey when first moved to T.V. Massey came to check out my irrigation system... Told this will take all day... Two hours later handed a $1,200 bill... What did you do to earn $1,200? Ummm, walked around and really could not show me any proof of any work... Lifted up a ground lid and showed me my old electric system... Head honcho came around and tried to sweet talk me, where you from, and do you like T.V.?

I had Dean's for almost 3 years but since I'm here full-time now I started cutting my own grass and the fertilizing. I still have them for pest control but I'll probably take that over too.

They were always there every week cutting the grass and doing the fertilizing every two months. My biggest problem is with their fertilizing program. They only put down straight fertilizer and don't use any pre-emergents for weed control and only spot treat for weeds. I asked why and they told me that there is only a small window for pre-emergents and they can't get to everyone so they don't do anybody. Since I've taken it over using a southern weed and feed most of my crabgrass is dying. I'm going to try to get rid of the common Bermuda grass that has taken over a lot of my St Augustine with a mixture of herbicides that is not supposed to hurt the St Augustine.

I agree that Massey is not the best, but they do almost everything related to lawn maintenance, they are cheaper than other companies I have tried, and they answer the phone when you call them. If a contractor won't return my calls, they are fired. Also, I have not found any company who will maintain my irrigation system on an ongoing basis. Massey will check my irrigation system for $40 per quarter, and they will come almost immediately to repair an irrigation leak, and they are way cheaper than any other irrigation company I have found. They are also the cheapest lawn mowing service, who is also reliable.

Can anyone recommend an irrigation company who will maintain and repair a sprinkler system on a continuous basis for a reasonable cost? I don't want a company who will only come out on an emergency or as-needed basis, but someone who will respond to a call to make a repair when needed as a regular customer. The only company I have found who will do this is Massey.

I am using them now and think their prices are a little high, especially for weeding and trimming. Mowing is $55 a months, weeding is $22 a month (all they do is spray), trimming is $135 a quarter

It sounds too high to me. I pay $55 per month to Massey for mowing, I do my own Roundup spraying, and I pay less than $100 to trim my shrubs about every 4 months, but I don't have a regular contractor to do it.

Who ever you pick only pay monthly. Never signup for a yearly contract.

He never says... He just warns... He might have said they don't show up as contracted, but I've been using them for almost 4 years and the only times the didn't show was when it was pouring rain. And on those few times, the showed up a day or two later...

I have the SimplySafe video receipts to prove my claims...

I will happily pretend to check on your irrigation system for even less, $30 per quarter. I would then on occasion report an irrigation leak and say that I had repaired that leak too even though none of your neighbors had any similar issues in the same time period.

I only have Massey so, when a sprinkler head breaks, I have someone to call who will fix it promptly and won't charge a huge amount. They usually fix it for free in one day. I don't want to call around to find someone when I need them. So far, I have not found a reliable irrigation company to do that.

I operate the controller myself and I know when I have a leak, but I just don't want to repair the leaks myself. The last irrigation company I called wanted a minimum of $90 for every visit. Another company wanted $80 to just evaluate my system before doing anything.
