Disney raises prices again

Annual passes have increased by 7%
When will the insanity end?

When renewals and attendance drops off.

Higher prices -> lower attendance -> shorter lines -> less complaining, all while collecting more profit. Seems like a big win for Disney.

The time will come when they add one too many straws and attendance collapses. Unfortunately, that may be several more price increases away.

On the bright side, it may mean fewer obnoxious rugrats on those flights to and from Minneapolis.

Stu from NYC 10-25-2024 07:43 AM

Remarkably they are still able to fill their parks

MrFlorida 10-25-2024 07:46 AM

Don't matter what they charge, people will still come .

Dollar or 5000 makes no difference to me.

During my working life, I found that when my income dropped through costs and overheads, raising my rates kept the business solvent.
Worked for us, and most others.

Wenham 10-25-2024 09:41 AM

Price gouging is something they are notorious for but why do it to residents?

Define: Price gouging is when a seller increases the price of goods or services to an unreasonable or unfair level, often during a time of crisis. It's also known as excessive pricing.

Unreasonable??
Unfair??
Don't think so, 50,000,000 visited last year.

Crisis???
Don't think so............it's a luxury, not a necessity.

Davonu 10-25-2024 12:01 PM

Yeah. We all know prices never go up.

Because they can

Kenswing 10-25-2024 03:30 PM

As long as people keep showing up they’ll keep raising the prices. What’s sad are the people that have little fiscal discipline and go thousands of dollars in debt to spend a week there.

asianthree 10-25-2024 04:12 PM

Our 2 pass holders Pixie renewal 10/19 with photo pass on 10/19 $822. Less $500 from Disney rewards points. Less Amex rewards points $200.
Total cash $122. Out of pocket

Have never paid more than $150 for any pass holder for Disney, or Universal (renewal $ $135).

 You Sir are correct. My wife and I were season pass holders for a number of years. The way we used WDW was to go 6 to 8 times a year and stay for 3 days and 2 nights on property. The 1st. time they tried to charge us for parking at the hotel, I asked why were they doing this after so many years of free parking at hotels as well as free parking we still got at the parks? The nice guy checking us in said "I'll tell you..... when we were at a meeting and this was being explained to us I asked the same question. The BIG SHOT giving the talk said to the entire room of employees "BECAUSE WE CAN!" He then said to me "I'm sorry" and "Walt is probably rolling in his grave." (I don't think he was buried.) I lived with it til they got "Woke" and I decided that I had enough. Good bye WDW. :(

Unfortunately, they do it since they can do it. Just like high end a golf course in Vegas is +/- $1,000 and most high end courses are $300++

Michael 61 10-25-2024 05:04 PM

People will complain, but many will bite the bullet and pay whatever Disney charges.

Lots of hotels are starting to charge now for parking especially near airports. They brush it off as a third party charging it not them.

Maybe they sell less year round ones and more day passes? Doesn’t matter to me either way.

badkarma318 10-25-2024 11:05 PM

The number of adults who go there repeatedly without children/grandchildren is concerning.

bobeaston 10-26-2024 04:19 AM

Simple explanation. INFLATION affects everything. 7% is about right.

Travilinggal 10-26-2024 04:45 AM

I don’t care. My annual pass is increasing by $30.00. Disney is my happy place and I will still be going often and with a smile on my face.

Rocksnap 10-26-2024 05:05 AM

Disney for some not so strange reason is losing money hand over fist. So they are raising prices not just with ticket sales, but across the board with their other business. I dropped HULU like a hot potato when their prices went up. I don’t like supporting companies with their ‘values’. If you know what I mean. It’s no wonder why their movies as of late are huge flops at the box office. Disney has lost American confidence.

Usually I don't get in to these discussions, but concerning to who exactly and why?

Disney is woke, insane and morally corrupted. Walk away and don't give them any of your money. Therefore ticket prices won't matter.

MicRoDrafting 10-26-2024 06:10 AM

be mindful of the PERKS
Cast Members are provided for fairly with Salary and Benefits (they deserve), crews clean and disinfect nightly, massive fireworks display, and the list goes on and on …

I don't even know anyone who would go to woke Disney. Now that they want to transition young children and don't use the terms he or she and so on.

So you don’t go to Disney, maybe haven’t gone to Disney, and don’t know anyone who would go to Disney yet somehow you know what Disney is like? How does that happen, did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

merrymini 10-26-2024 06:31 AM

I am an adult and love disney, although their woke junk is deplorable. I do not watch any of their movies any more. I am hoping they wake up from their mental illness and am glad that Walt Disney is not alive to see this happening. The parks are funding their other losses. Hopefully, I can hang in there until their recovery.

Actually, I think it may be a cult.

The_Oracle 10-26-2024 07:09 AM

Universal Studios is better and cheaper, much better rides. The best annual pass also has free fast pass after 4 pm, just use the app before 4 for shorter wait times.

mcloud 10-26-2024 07:17 AM

Answer to your question will insanity end

When people stop going!

Easy when there is no longer any demand, simple economics!!!!!!!!!!!!'

SIMPLE-when people refuse to go. Actually 7% is not bad. Our rate of inflation has been 20%. That means it now costs five dollars to buy what four dollars used to buy.

HUM. Perhaps they should have a senior day. No one under 55 allowed.

Price gouging is the latest buzzword. Typical thought. They make too much and I make too little. Price controls do not work. If you are selling your home or your car, the choice might be sell it for less to xxxxxx or get more from someone else.
Not all but most would sell it for more.

RoseyRed 10-26-2024 08:19 AM

annual pass vs paying for one time trip

Need to do research on paying straight out for one time visit vs annual pass. Any suggestion on websites to provide straight forward comparisons, info, etc?

Far as losing money and strange reasons. Disney is a corporation. A corporation is a business plan. The goal is to make money for employees and investors. Profits are taxed twice-at least twice, For an investor. The corporation is taxed and the same money is taxed again when the number, sometimes called the dollar is paid to the investor.

Far as Disney an amazing story. From a comic strip to the mega, world corporation it is today.
