Progressive Insurance Good or Bad
I’m trying to decide if I should renew with Progressive Insurance. We have a good rate. Wondering if those who had Progressive and filed claim after Milton if they were good to work with during claim process. Thanks.

Progressive is as good as any - wish they were writing new policies. have them for auto - won't write home insurance

I have had Progressive for homeowners insurance for 8 years. I've never filed a claim, but I keep them because they have only raised my rate modestly every year. I had Allstate for auto insurance for 27 years, but, when they raised my rate by 32 percent, I switched to State Farm and saved 50 percent. There is no loyalty credit with insurance companies. If they raise your rates, you need to be prepared to drop them or they will rip you off.

I used them for my RV insurance. I had 2 claims and they were responsive and reasonable on both. I have no experience with them for other forms of insurance.

There no good insurance. It’s like putting up with abscess tooth with no dentist. You just got get through pain knowing the fine print usually gets them out of paying anything.

In July I received a notice of non-renewal, no reason whatsoever. Half of my neighbors got the same notice from Progressive---apparently, they are "reducing their exposure" in Florida. OK, have a new insurer as of early December. BUT THEN.......Hurricane Milton caused 25-30K of damage to my home. After playing their game, the "desk adjuster" decided that the damage is $7,200 and is "required" to send me a check for that amount. Required???? She said they could send a different "field adjuster" but since she has the final word, the result would be the same. And that's her "final" word. FINAL??????..... I don't think so. Now, I have the joy of having hired a public adjuster who along with my attorney will take it from here on. The sad part is that this is all an insurance game. They both stated that once it gets to the stage of threatening a lawsuit, the insurer will fold since it costs more to defend the litigation than paying the claim. WHY????....Because 63% of Florida homeowners take whatever the insurer first pays and won't pursue the claim---so from a financial standpoint it makes sense. So much for morality and customer service. Also, if you go to You Tube and Search for "60 minutes--Florida insurance" you'll get a real eye-opener---it aired 4 weeks ago. "Desk adjusters" arbitrarily reducing field adjuster's estimate by 70,80,90% or more---the worst example being an estimate of $438,000 in damage being paid $3,000. Not to mention them forging adjusters' reports Well, that's my Progressive experience so far---your milage may vary. |

I saw the 60 minute story on insurance payouts and agree, it was terrible. Who are you with now that is doing the same to you?

That was 16 days ago. Desk adjuster also an independent, sent email field estimate and our rebuild estimate has been received. Hope we don’t have the same issues. BTW was the $7,200 after your deductible? |

Progressive ins.- good?
We decided to transfer to Progressive Ins. for our vehicles as it offered us a great rate. Then I got a renewal notice for next 6 months and was shocked to see the rocket increase (more than $375 increase for only 6 months). We are excellent drivers with no traffic violations and no accidents. We called the ins. co why it increases that much. She said the recent offer was just a promotion. What a joke! So, we had to look for another ins. and got a great rate (the other ins. co was our former ins.and should have stayed with it). It still has our file. Chas

bad if they drop you because they are dropping all seasonal / rentals / non full time residents. . I would renew with them if their annual increase isn't more than about 3-5% because they are a large national insurer with deeper pockets than the smaller/regional insurers |
Progressive is no longer writing in FL as of 12/31/24. You should have gotten a letter. They are referring their customers to Loggerhead.

I hope I can stay with Progressive as I am pleased with how they handled the damage claim on my sailboat in Hudson and how they are replacing my damaged roof in Lake Deaton at no cost to me.
