Log in on iphone help
I have been waiting a couple months for someone at TOTV to get back to me about why I can sign in from my laptop but not my iphone. Numerous emails to them - NOTHING.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and been able to fix? TIA for any suggestions. |
This is a GUESS, I do not an Iphone. I would delete all references, links, shortcuts, etc., from the Iphone. Then I would start from scratch, entering user name and then password. If this does not work, you will need to find an Iphone guru to see if there is something else going on. I get in on my Andriod very easily, as the ToTV site remembers my device, It occurs to me that something might be wrong with this function and your Iphone. I do not know the details of how this works, so I cannot advise what to look for to eliminate the problem. There is an APPLE club that may be able to help also.

I've never signed in from my iPhone, but just tried it ... no problem at all. Whatever problem you're having, is likely localized to your phone. Are you using Safari or Chrome? I just got in, with both of them ... no problem. |
I don't know much about IPhones, but whenever I have a problem with an app (Chrome, Safari, etc) I do a "force stop" and it often fixes the problem. If that doesn't work, I would uninstall the app and reinstall it.

I log in on both laptop and iPhone, did this morning. However, when I logged on by iPhone, I can't see posts i started. Don't understand why, but whatever. . This morning I could see the 30 hospitals drop medicare advantage plans on the mac book, but not when I log in on the iPhone.
YMMV |
Delete your browser history on your iphone. If you are using Safari, on your iphone go to “settings”,
then scroll to the bottom and click “apps”, then scroll to “safari” and click then scroll to the bottom and click “advanced”, then click “website data” Then scroll to the bottom and click “remove all website data’ This will remove any incorrect login data and let you log in new. Now open safari and log in again to TOTV. Make sure you are using the correct password. |
Everybody guessing here. The OP did not specify which app they were trying to log into on no h the laptop and the iPhone. They did not even specify what type of a laptop they are using Mac or pc.
OP, don’t start doing any deleting of anything until you tell us exactly lay what you are trying to do. There are standards on how to setup a Mac/watch/ipad with an iPhone to guarantee that all apps use the same login credentials and same goes settings up your browsers so all devices have the same credentials and even browser history. If you are talking about a windows laptop, I don’t touch windows and it won’t be as seamless as setting up an Apple device |

Which URL are you trying to log in to (in case it is different than the one I am using)? I can try logging out and then back in to whatever site you are using. What do you see when you try logging in? Does it give some error message, ask for information you don't have, or just sit and spin and never advance? |

Trying a different browser is a good suggestion. |

Login credentials are independent on each device, unless you affirmatively opt to make one, dependent on the other. Setting up multiple devices, across platforms or Windows vs iOS, Mac OS or Android, is essentially the same process and in many cases, much more "seamless" if you're not using an Apple device (which I use). MacOS & iOS is designed to minimize user control, because "Apple knows best" what you want to do ... or at least Apple thinks it does. |

I only use an iPhone for TOTV and have no problems at all. Sorry you’re having trouble. When I first joined I learned quickly how difficult it is to get any kind of customer service help here if needed, so I hope some of the ideas here help you. I would definitely try clearing out your Safari cache, and then powering your phone off and on. Many bugs can be cleared out just doing that. Good luck!

I use Google with iPhone & various desktops. Are your devices synced ? Google does that - you can begin work on one device & continue that work on another device after they’re synced. I had the opposite issue - getting Google not to sync.

Unless you have AppleCare, Apple offers NO FREE Telephone Technical Support after 90 days (except on some watches). Online support is available (sort of), but only as it relates to the product itself or its operating system ... not the interaction with other software. |
Again, misinformation. After you login on each Apple device, you can store every login credential to each app in iCloud so no matter what Apple device you use, Apple will provide the login information. Actually if you use Face ID, you are not even prompted for a userid and password.
Always use 2 factor authentication to make sure it’s you and when Apple prompts you to enter a long secure password, use it because these passwords that are generated will take decades up to hundreds of years to crack. Safari, if this is what the OP is using, all login credentials for each site you go to can be saved in iCloud. You won’t use Face ID, but everything else is the same. I use safari 99.9% of the time unless a site is coded using parts that apple doesn’t support (JavaScript, css, or html incompatibilities) or you have configured safari to not run certain code or applied extensions that restrict safari. |

All the above *depends* on the individual user and their specific needs, wants and preferences. IF you opt use the Apple/iCloud recommended password system, your doomed when you try to sign in on another device, not logged into the same iCloud account. I defy anyone to remember the login passwords generated by the system and Ft. Knox doesn't need such a sophisticated security system. Personally, I use 2 cell phones and they each use different iCloud accounts. For those who believe iCloud is infallible, I can tell you from experience, they are not. I ran across an iCloud glitch that would have lost years worth of data, except that I had another backup. The glitch was so bad, that Apple compensated me. The use of Face ID is controlled not only by the system you're using, but by the App you're using. For example, with most banking software, you need to affirmatively authorize the App to use Face ID and most every time you upgrade your system, the setting will change. As for Safari not support JavaScript or CSS, that's simply nonsense, see the attached. |

Call Apple directly. They are extremely helpful and even answer on the weekends with English speaking reps.

I don’t actually know which browser you are using when you click that box from an email. On my iPad I believe it is working in a pseudo browser it opens within my email app. Your configuration is likely different than mine. Why click those links from email at all? You know you are logged in since you can create posts under your name. Skip the email links and just use the “Forum New Posts” button to see what is new - that is what I do. The posts at the top of the list are the most recent. When I have read all that I am interested in I hit “Mark Forums Read” to clear the posts I didn’t care about. The next time I visit all I see are posts created since the last time I was here. Making things work right is the best solution but learning to not need that capability, which I used for the very first time right now, will solve the problem too. |
