Lake Sumter Landing traffic light is currently set up as a 4-way stop

The traffic light near Bravo Pizza has recently been repaired and is functioning as a 4-way stop light. Traffic through the intersection seems to be much more efficient than the previous operation. I hope that it stays in this configuration.

Yes, and totally agree that the 4 way stop is way more efficient. Hopefully the configuration will be permanent.

Was there an article that stoplight was now repaired. I thought I read the update somewhere.
Will be on blink four way stop for a period of time. Then return to fully working stop light.

I was there mid-morning and half the drivers didn't seem to know what to do - deer in headlights

I agree, a 4-way stop makes sense, but need to replace the flashing lights with the usual signage

Ideally, stop signs that also inform the driver that it is a 4-way stop sign. If the intersection just uses a blinking red light, drivers have no way to know if the cross-traffic has a blinking red, or just a blinking yellow.

Please keep it a 4-way STOP. I've wasted lots of time sitting at that way-too-long light.

And everybody stopping is safer. Slows people down running thru the intersection.
That's a good thing.
I'd bet accidents at that intersection have gone way down ??? !!!

Don't we have a say in this ?

gorillarick 11-08-2024 07:39 AM

Blinking RED means STOP.

I've lived in six states, and have passed driver's tests in all.
Blinking RED means STOP.

Agree 100% and it has been like this since at least May.

Heard it announced on Wvlg, our local radio station, that it is flashing red now but will return to a full stoplight within the next 30 days

Yes. You may say whatever you wish.

There is a four way stop sign with red blinking lights on Del Mar and Rio Grande. I have seen people blow through this intersection without stopping.

What does that have to do with Lake Sumter. And, if there are already stop signs plus a flashing red light then what do you propose, pop up barricades?

coleprice 11-09-2024 08:54 AM

The 4-Way Stop is MUCH MORE EFFICIENT! The traffic light didn't use sensors in the street, so there was frequently a back-up due to long delays waiting for a green light, while no vehicles were passing through the intersection.

patriciashew@me.com 11-09-2024 11:42 AM

People may like the blinking red light but the real issue is so many drivers can’t count to 4!!

Count to four isn’t the issue, ..the special people mindset is I know I stopped last, but I am not wasting one minute waiting
