How to clean the clear plastic on golf cart enclosure
Relative newbie, Bought a golf cart that is a couple of years old. Used the enclosures for rain but now using occasionally on these cool mornings for temperature control. Does anyway have any suggestions/experience on ways to improve the visibility on the clear plastic? Some smudge/cloudy looking areas. Thanks in advance.

Wash the windows with mild soap and rinse. Dry off with a microfiber cloth. Use PLEX plastic polish. I did that with an eleven year old cart and I was shocked how clear and clean the windows became. The PLEX also fills in and hides small scratches and makes for a beautiful, clear view. I did both sides and polished the PLEX off, again, with a microfiber cloth.

I googled PLEX and came up with several different brands. Can you say the brand name of the product that works well? TIA

I have used this for several years with a good deal of success and satisfaction. Whatever you use, please us a clean (preferably washed without fabric softener) microfiber towel in conjunction.

Another good product is 303 Products Marine Clear Protective Cleaner. Also, although common sense, never leave the panels rolled up for extended periods of time when they are even a little bit wet or you will need to clean them much more frequently. Also, if leaving the cart in the garage for extended periods of time, it is best to leave the panels hanging down.

Tannery available at Ace. Used it since the early 90s mostly boat isinglass. great product.

I don't buy any products. Instead of a microfiber, I use an old clean t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and folded into a sponge-sized rectangle. For the cleanser, I use a half gallon of water in a bucket with 1/4 cup of vinegar and a tablespoon of dish detergent. You can use the same formula to get love-bugs off the windshield of your car.

210 polish. Been using it for almost 30 years, boat and golf cart. The best!

I just use windex water down some.

Meguiars Plast X.....You can find it at Walmart automotive section. Great for the windshield too.
Micro fiber towel and your good. |

Use Windex at your own peril. It won't be long before you can't see anything through your windshield or plastic curtains. The amonia will breakdown the plastic and cause cloudiness. "Amonia Free Windex" is less damaging, but still not advised. |
Any non ammonia window cleaner with a micro fiber cloth will work fine. I use the natural cleaner you can buy at Walmart, for about $2.

Plexus is good, but Novus plastic polish is better in my experience.
This I stumbled onto this product 30+ years ago at a commercial acrylic wholesale place and I haven't found anything else that comes close. Simply rinse off the cart with a hose, spray on the Novus and lightly buff it off with a clean microfiber cloth. It contains ingredients that actually nourish the plastic and replace oils in it. You probably won't need it but you can also try the fine scratch remover which also works fantastic. I actually use it so much I just buy it in the 64 oz jug. I use Klear-to-Sea. I have used this on my boat enclosure for years.

Get Novus 2 to buff out the dull spots. Use Novus 1 regularly for daily cleaning.

Agree with previous posters about the Novus products. I had been using Novus for years on motorcycle windshields, and it is a definite go-to for the Isinglass plastic on golf cart enclosures. You can buy a kit that includes all 3 "steps" of their product. #3 is for heavy scratches, #2 for mild scratches/clouding, and #1 is the polish. For golf carts, you will likely never need #3, but it could help salvage severely scratched or clouded plastic. Try some...you'll leave the other products in your rearview mirror.

Per Amazon, product is no longer available and not sure if it will be. |

Novus is similar, but has more abrasives in it (depending on which one you buy). Meguiar's also has a similar product. |

Use Pledge

Over 15 years ago TV golf cart salesman told me to use turtle car wax. Good results every since on 3 different carts.
|
I forgot to mention that Novus used to be Milspec authorized to clean and polish Navy Aircraft canopies and windscreens.

The OPs question was about the soft clear plastic on an enclosure - think Sunbrella. Many of these suggestions are about cleaning the windscreen. My guess is that requires two different products.
