Xfinity $300 monthly
My Xfinity bill is a shocking $296 this month
Regular monthly charges $277.75 Taxes, fees and other charges $18.48 New charges $296.23 Statement total: $29623 That includes ultimate TV (not very ultimate) 1000g speed and home phone If I went to choice + 500mbs and something like YT TV I'd still be in the mid $200 Advice please |
I have exactly the same Xfinity package, with 2 cable boxes. My monthly bill is $246. It sounds like you are not benefitting from a one or two year agreement where you would get a contract discount.

I think you answered your own question.

1000g speed? Check your speed to see if you are really getting it, If not reduce it nearer to what is actually being provided to save $.

The prices I stated are using our own modems, we have had good luck using the Arris Surfboard G34. Also, the internet prices are under contract and need to be periodically renegotiated. I recently got the new customer rate renewed at our Villages home by making an appointment at the Xfinity store on the corner of 441 and Rolling Acres. As a side note, I was able to get to the Xfinity store via golf cart by parking at the Sketchers Factory Outlet and crossing Rolling Acres. Best of Luck. |

- If no then you can save money by dropping to 300Mbps which is more than adequate for streaming to multiple televisions - If yes then see if Quantum is in your area as they advertise 900Mbps for only $35. Do you really need a home phone? (we dropped ours about ten years ago) - If you don't then you can save by dropping that and using only your cell phone. - If you want to keep our home phone number active then consider a service like MagicJack and port your home phone to that. We did this and after about a month we used the call forwarding capability of MagicJack to forward our calls to our cell phone. MagicJack kept the old home number active at a fairly low price but all calls came to our cell phone. We have found that we rarely watch network television or live broadcasts. We have YouTubeTV through the football season but then pause it from February to August saving about $80/month. We spend most of our time watching shows on Netflix, Hulu, or AppleTV (free with our phone plan). I think we end up paying about $65/month for all the streaming packages we have but we should probably cancel a couple to bring that down. |

Spectrum internet only, $39.99 for the basic ~250 mps and they auto upgraded me to 400 mps no additional charge (no need for multi gig). You need to ask yourself how much streaming speed do you REALLY need and what TV channels do you REALLY watch and chuck the home phone and any cable boxes (most TV has streaming via apps. now). If you need a basic TV package most recommend YouTube Tv. If you simply like the oldie TV shows (Andy Griffith and Matt Dylon Gunsmoke) try Pluto TV streaming for free.

Get Xfinity NOW at $30/month all-in 100mb.
Get a Google TV (like Hisense U8N) or Google stream box and load the Google Freeplay app. Freeplay has160 free channels including local/world news with Haystack/Pluto/Tubi/Plex app. |
OP, you should also consider your cell phone service. Xfinity Mobile has a great deal for people who have Xfinity internet service. So, if you switch your internet provider to Quantum or another provider, I believe that you will no longer be eligible for the Xfinity Mobile cell phone service.

I can't imagine how a 2 or 3 person household, could need more than 50Mpbs, unless there were 2 computers, doing heavy gaming, while downloading HD movies. |

Streaming does not make sense until your Cable Specials expire and then it makes a lot of sense. Maybe keep Xfinity internet and phone and dump the TV service. That is what we did with Spectrum. Oh by the way Spectrum customer service is way way better than Xfinity!!! |

We have my laptop, which hubby uses for work and golf. We have my printer, which is connected to the network so we can print from the computer, the laptop, or either of our cell phones, anywhere in the country. We have the TV in the living room, which hubby watches. We have the TV in the "man-cave" which hubby watches when he's in there. We have my tablet, which I use to read in bed at night, check the morning news when I wake up, and as an alarm clock. We have the computer and one of the TVs on all day, most days. The rest of the stuff is used on and off throughout the day, except the printer which is used only a couple times every week. It's nice to know that it is ALL available, ALL the time, and I don't have to juggle devices just to make sure that I can do what I want or need to do at any given moment. We have 200mbps, and it works seamlessly. |

For cell phone service use Tello Mobile (T-mobile network)...$25 full up.
Unlimited talk/text with 5GB data - $14/month. |
We have cell phones no landline $45 each a month.
Xfinity 300MB for $40/month. We can easily stream 3 TV's or devices at the same time without any problems. We use a Firestick streaming service for $100/year 2000+ channels. I would suggest not paying for things that you don't really need. We decided that our budget for phones/internet/TV is under $150 and we're sticking with it. |
T-Mobile home 5 G internet. 60 per month. When we travel I take it with us.. Download speeds of around 200 MPS more than enough to run 4k TV and all home devises at the same time.
Ruku TV gives us 400 live TV channels for free We subscribe to Netflix, Paramount Plus, HULU, and Discovery Plus for a total of about 60 per month for a total entertainment fee of about 120 per month. |
Me too for wired Ethernet. Just shy of 300 for wifi.

Most people are totally wasting $100+ per month on bandwidth they do not need or benefit from. This a case where bigger is not better. |
Same same

PS: printer does not use internet, just your local ethernet ( intranet ). |
I used to use all the Xfinity services when I first moved here (9 years ago). I found the Firestick, I reduced my speed to 100 Mbps, I got rid of my line line, but, if I did have it I would get the OOMA box to replace Xfinity. You can buy your own modem (if you have a land line you will need one that has the phone connection). I kept going over the Xfinity internet limit, so I went with unlimited for a price of $65/mo. The OOMA is a one time fee of about $70 with a monthly fee for 911 and admin fee for about $8/mo. I found a TV service (from overseas) for about $20/mo for over 10,000 channels. A good source for anything Firestick is TROYPOINT.COM.

You need to switch cable providers every 2 to 2.5 years to keep a lower rate. At least that is what our Spectrum rep told us.
|
I used to have Xfinity, paid $30 a month for internet only. Could have used their modem/router as they were imbedded in all the apartments, but I had my own.
FYI on which ever “speed” you choose. Anything more than todays base speed, you are paying a whole lot of money for something you will never even use. I could stream to 2 tv’s, 2 iPads & 2 iPhones at the same time, and all devices worked just fine. With their base 50mps speed. Think having a fire hose, when all that’s ever used/needed is a garden hose. Even now here in TV, using Centrix Fiber, base speed. 2 tv’s, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones and our daughter (graphic artist) on her laptop sending/receiving data intensive files. Not a glitch for any of us. Again, why pay for something you will never use! Save your money and buy a Smart tv. No cable box needed, save even more off their monthly box rental. |
YouTube TV for about $82.00 per month. Compare its channel lineup against Xfinity; except for AMC we found it to be the same. Unless you are hosting a website you have way more Internet bandwidth than necessary. Quantum offers fiber access for about $50.00 per month for 500 MBPS service. This is why we left Xfinity.
