NFL in the bag

Re the Bills vs Chiefs yesterday. Yet again IMO blatant bias toward KC. Refs split hairs on ball placement and calls in the 2nd half.
The Bills did not play their best by any measure, but 3 critical calls by the Refs tipped the game to KC.
I didn’t have a dog in the hunt in yesterday’s games, but NFL bias with KC is obvious…

I would think the Buffalo Bills could file a complaint if the referee bias is obvious. It would help in future games.

FloridaGuy66 01-27-2025 12:12 PM

Between the nonsense "simultaneous catch" and the questionable ball placement. This win for KC should have a big asterisk in the record books.

Bill14564 01-27-2025 12:37 PM

I also wanted Buffalo to win and was watching for bad calls but I really didn't see anything blatant.

In a jump ball the offense wins. The dual catch *might* have been called incomplete but I'm pretty confident Buffalo would have argued otherwise if they had been awarded the catch. It was close but it seemed like it could go either way and, again, the offense keeps possession on a jump ball.

The ball placement could have gone either way. The Bills did not clearly advance the ball enough and even in the replay it was difficult to say exactly where the ball was.

There were two questionable calls that went against KC.

Either team could have played just a little better to take a more decisive lead. In the end, KC had just a little more luck with their plays than the Bills did.

GpaVader 01-27-2025 01:20 PM

Dual possession goes to the offence, happened at the end of a GB Seattle game a few years back. DB went up and got and the receiver jumped on it to make it a jumped ball. Offence gets it, tie goes to the runner.

On the spot the QB was facing backwards and his back barely got to the line to gain, but its where the ball was not where he was.

As a life long Vikings fan, I identify with Buffalo, but I don't think these were biased calls. Just my 2 cents worth.

The ball touched the ground before anyone possessed it. Should have been incomplete.

OR ...

The ball was firmly held between the players and while the point of the ball touched the ground, the ground did not cause the ball to move and the ground did not aid in the catch and so there was not enough to overturn the call.

retiredguy123 01-27-2025 02:01 PM

One thing I like about football is that when the game is over, it's over.

Don't have a horse in this race, but man-o-live.......the Ref's were additional players for the Chiefs

Michael G. 01-27-2025 03:35 PM

I always refer to the play-offs as the second season with two teams left standing.
And their all called by the ref's as to who wins or losses.
The second season always brings out the bitch'en about the refs, (unless your team won).
It's a job that I wouldn't want.

Tvflguy 01-27-2025 04:24 PM

Re the topic, I will project with great confidence that KC will achieve their 3rd straight SB title.

Thanks refs…. In the bag.

Except it wasn't. They showed the replay multiple times and the ball was not controlled by anyone.

Stu from NYC 01-27-2025 05:05 PM

It does seem like KC gets most of the calls.

Don’t have replay option? But they probably don’t want loose time out if they are wrong?

Ok, please. We can auger over ever play when refs place ball or make call we don’t like. We don’t count.

So true.

one of the many reasons I no longer spend time on NFL or NBA.

Chiefs fan!

Oh! But when your team wins - it's a glorious thing! We had season tickets for the KC Chiefs for 28 years. 1987 till 2015. We would go to the playoffs once in a while; but barely won those games when we did. I am savoring these moments with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and this wonderful team. Go Chiefs!!

RetiredCPA 01-28-2025 06:10 AM

Totally agree.

Ignatz 01-28-2025 06:18 AM

Good for the Chiefs!

So glad they’re able to overcome this bs officiating nonsense and EARN the chance to play for a 3peat.

Any and all split decisions should go to Taylor Swift. At least that's what my wife thinks.

KC is a winner and that is that. Used to be NE, no different.

Agreed. That was the one call I think was shockingly not overturned. Incomplete pass.

I’m rooting for a KC three-peat. But horse poop is horse poop. That was horse poop.

Sandabern 01-28-2025 09:25 AM

If you would have told me a few years ago that the NFL would fix games so that over 10 million additional Swiftie fans would watch the Super Bowl, I would have said you’re insane, but this can’t be denied now. I don’t like KC and I don’t hate KC (I do like Mahomes though), but they get most every call go their way and then we get to watch Taylor’s reaction to some key plays. I don’t like Taylor and I don’t hate Taylor either, but it’s ridiculous. And if you don’t believe me about the SB viewers, my wife doesn’t know who Travis Kelce is, but she knows Taylor’s boyfriend wears a red jersey with number 87 (she calls him Mr. Swift) and his brother has a long beard.

Bills recover 5 fumbles including 4 of there own, chasing 2 points twice and not making it , your QB stopped 3 times on a sneak that everyone knows is going over the guard , they are just lucky that the game was even close , and I saw 2. Very obvious face masks that werent called on Bills . Bill Parcells once said never put yourself in the position where the refs cost you a game . The Bils are a bunch of losers who always shrink when the moment gets to big for them ,I think it must be something in the water up there because it has always been this way

Unfortunately this KC bias thing has found roots and is mostly not there. It all started because the refs protect the QB's (all of them) and Mahomes is deft at working himself to draw those protective penalties. That's no worse than what Bellacheat has done to work the rules for decades now. I'm a KC fan but not from there...and I'm kinda tired of the complaints being biased. The refs make calls that go both ways folks...and to believe they try to let KC win to to say they throw the games...gimme a break on that one...

Bay Kid 01-28-2025 10:47 AM

Glad I'm not a ref. Hard job.

ithos 01-28-2025 10:56 AM

There is no question that both unnecessary roughness calls in the Houston game should have been reviewed and reversed. The NFL knows it too because they didn't assess fines. These two plays very well could have changed the outcome.

I understand how the referees would have called it in real time but if the analysts figured it out within seconds, the review booth certainly should have reversed it

Losers always look for excuses and there were questions about calls one both sides but replays show the truth. Love how the blame never goes to bad coaching or playing.

I tend to agree, the Chiefs do get the majority of close calls. On some of these roughing the passer calls Mahomes should be up for an academy award.

I’m pretty sure if it was “obvious”, the challenge flag would have been thrown in a millisecond

biker1 01-29-2025 07:47 AM

I’m not quite sure what you are suggesting. If you are suggesting that those played should have been reviewed then you are incorrect since they are not reviewable under the current rules. If you are suggesting that they should be reviewable then that is different and I would not be surprised if the NFL is considering a rule change.
