Roofer
 

Has anyone found a decent roofer. Today apex came and told me i need a new roof because some of the shingles had wind damage. They want me to put in a claim to my insurance company. Based on the pictures they took it may need some repair but the roof is 12 years old and from what i read i should be able to get 15-20 years. I am looking for a reliable trustworthy roofer to reseal those shingles. Thanks in advance. Regina

Did you call Apex or did they just show up? If they just showed up, tell them to go away. Don't sign anything. McGinnis and McHales are two good roofers.

You probably will not get the advertised life out of your roof; many insurance companies are not insuring houses with roofs over 10 years old. DO NOT fall for the assignments of Benefits scam. If your insurance company drops you you can look around for another company (higher rates) or you can bite the bullet and put on a new roof.
INSURAANCE DOES NOT COVER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR on a roof, this is your cost, and if you get "free" roof it becomes all of OUR COSTS.

McGinnis did a great job for me and several of our neighbors. Reasonable price also.

McGinnis was wonderful. Family owned. Son of owner came to our home. No big sale spiel. Low key. They do the permit and ARC review. Sent 6 or 8 workers Done in one day. They never took a break. Worked from 6am. Some companies take a couple of days. Not a fun experience. Noisy as all heck, so I was thrilled with a one day install.

They were in the neighborhood and just showed up. I will call McGinnis.

Apex has shown up at my door several times.

first they apologize for their noise and than offer a free roof inspection which can be guaranteed for them to find or make some loose tiles so they can offer a free roof

APEX is a scam roofing company. Many negative reviews on this site and others.
Skylight Roofing is a local company that has a very positive reputation here in TV.
They did a roof for us. Uses only their employees so no subletting. Done in one day. Only highest quality materials.
Call Brent at 407-7906755 and he will do an honest assessment of your roof. He lives here in The Villages.

In my neighborhood it started with one house around the corner having their roof replace and before you know it there were about 8 houses that had their roofs done. There were 2 houses that had problems, but it wasn't the roofing company it was the owner's insurance company. The roofing company was Roofing Pros USA LLC, (352)-581-7333. They did it all, worked directly with my insurance, came with a color choice that I was permitted to use in my area and did the job in 2 days. The only thing I had to do was pay the deductible, which was $1,000, but that varies depending on who is your insurer. My house is 14 years old, and the issue of age never came up.

I had a guy show up at the front door saying they were replacing a neighbor's roof and noticed a bad shingle on mine and did I want them to inspect the whole thing - and file a claim against my insurance. I looked and there were no bad shingles.

Apex, Security and 5 Star were some of the originals that went door to door and started this mess with getting a free roof. One of the companies even rented a house in the Villages for their workers because they knew we as Villagers can't pass up FREE.

We used Scott Smith Roofing as did some of my neighbors.
We were all very happy with the price and quality of work.

PLEASE stay away from Apex. You will regret it in the long run. If you think you have roof damage call your insurance company and let them look.

Scott Skipper of SPS Roofing (352/347-8530) is THE BEST! Honest, reasonable, prompt, capable, etc. Could not recommend him more highly!!!

The Roof Guys in Ocala. Their local salesman is Villager. They will tell you the truth about your roof, no pressure, no assigning your rights to them, excellent follow up and excellent new roof. After I had mine done at a very reasonable price many of my neighbors had theirs done too. No complaints from any of them. At least call them and have them take a look.

My experience with Apex was not good. Next Dimension (GAF) or Eustis roofing (Certianteed) are the best for workmanship and price.

Scam. Do not go for it. Don't sign over your insurance. We used Eustis Roofing and they did a wonderful job. He even told us the roof (14 years old) would be good for another 5 years, but the insurance company said NO.
