RV parking??
 
friends from out of town are going to be visiting for a couple of days is there somewhere in the N end of TV to park an RV ??

You are allowed to have an RV parked on your driveway or on the street for 72 hours.

I am copying this from another past post and it’s a good summary:

Each District has it own set of Restrictive Covenants which sets the guidelines for many things including recreational vehicles. If you have not yet reviewed this document I suggest you do so as soon as possible. In my District the rules state as follows:

"No Owner of Homesite shall park, store or keep any vehicle except wholly within his driveway, garage or other non-visitor parking spaces. No truck in excess of 3/4 ton, camper, boat trailer or aircraft, or any vehicle other than a private, non-commercial vehicle may be parked in a parking space excepot a boat may be kept in the garage with the garage door closed. No Owner of a Homesite shall repair or restore any motor vehicle, boat trailer, aircraft, or other vehicle on any portion of any Homesite, or on dedicated or reserved areas, except for emergency repairs, and then only to the extent necessary to enable movement thereof to a proper repair facility."

In addition to the above stated rule, this subject if further clarified by each District under the External Deed Restriction Standards for your District. Within this document conversion vans with hook-ups for electric and water on rear or side are consideredc recreational vehicles. Furthermore, this same document clarifies the term Parking to state that Campers, Winnebago's and other RV's are allowed on the driveway for not to exceed 72 hours (3 days) provided they are not plugged in or inhabited thus accommodating the packing and unpacking process. Fines for violating this rule are set at $150 plus $50 per day of continued violation.

Although the above information specifically addresses my specific District, I think you will find that many of the Districts have very similar restrictions. FYI The Villages operates and maintains at least two designated areas where you can rent a space to store RV's and other motor vehicles plus there are several non-Villages businesses that offer the same service. You might want to check these out.

Like they follow those rules, guy on one of streets beings his Hugh diesel RV every week end cleaning and working on it. He’s wearing it out driving to and from RV storage every weekend. He parked it in diamond lanes for 3 or more days. Rules are for only rule followers.

You might give Customer Service a call. They would know about any unofficial, short term options.

You can park it in the Walmart parking lot (they actually permit it). But you'll have no electric or water hookup, no security, and no access to the Villages unless you rent a golf cart and someone lends you their gate pass (there is no red button on that gate).

Recreation Plantation has spots, there is also TV RV storage on 466 just east of 301.

The 72 hr rule is not true if on the street. Florida law states that you can’t park your van overnight on residential streets, roadways, or parks since it can be a safety hazard and violates zoning laws.

One call to the Sheriff's Dept or local PD and they will "ask" them to move. Trust me, I know this will happen.

Which Florida Statute says you can't park a van or an RV overnight on residential streets, roadways, or parks?

There may be a Wildwood ordinance about parking within the city limits but that would apply to any vehicle and would not be a concern in the northern sections since they are not in the city of WIldwood.

The original poster never said if they were in Sumter county nor did they indicate they even wanted to park on the street they simply wanted to know where to park the RV (commercially). I found this with a google search.
In Sumter County, Florida, RVs are not permitted to be parked on residential streets overnight. RVs can be used as a temporary second residence on a parcel for up to five days in a 60-day period. Long-term residential use of RVs is limited to RV parks and campgrounds.

Nothing happens to violators unless someone turns them in. Time for your civic duty, make the call.

10 or 12 Years ago we rented a home on a cul-de-sac for 2 months and drove down in our small camper van. When we signed the agreement there was nothing mentioned about not parking it in the driveway. A week after we arrived we got a knock on the door and was told a neighbor complained and we have to put our van in storage and rent a car. I told them that wasn't going to happen and talked to each neighbor explaining that I was not advised, apologized for the mis-communications and gave them a choice of parking it in the driveway or on the cul-de-sac. It was unanimous, all said to park it in the driveway. Problem solved. I did notify the owner of the home and suggested he put that in his rental contract along with any other restrictions so tenants know what they are getting into.

IMO I don’t see difference in 1/2 ton van than SUVs or 1/2 ton pickups. If van my daily transportation and only vehicle I don’t how some restrictions can stop it? IMO it discriminates against persons vehicle choices?

You can have a 1/2 ton van in your driveway but not if it was converted to an RV with holding tanks, roof air, etc. showing. It's not discrimination, it's a deed restriction just as you can't have a boat of any size in your driveway. I think it's a good restriction even though for most of my life I have owned RV's and when I moved here I kept them at a storage facility.

IMHO, excellent way to handle the situation.

Just to provide some useful help, rather than general discussion of issues:

If you check with the local RV parks, you may be able to find a place to store it for a week or two. Blue Parrot RV park in Lady Lake accommodated us when we moved here.

Assuming you are just looking for a place to park it while they stay at your house.....ask Hacienda Rec Center to park it in the far end of their parking lot. Most rec centers will allow short term parking as long as you coordinate with them.

I parked my large horse trailer (used to move some stuff) at one for 4 days.
