Florida Cremation Society

Has anyone used this service? How would your rate their service?

Would you recommend them?

Avista 01-31-2011 08:47 PM

They have all of our information, but no, we haven't used them yet. :)

Oh. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.

We visited them and gave them all of our information. Didn't buy the contract as we don't know where we will be when we die. I know you can buy that insurance policy, but we have their card and know where to call when the time comes. If we are in this area, we plan to use them. I know we are taking a chance leaving it open as their prices are sure to rise.
I would be interested in knowing what everyone else is doingl We have niches in Illinois.

Interested in information on National Cremation Society I.e. Reliability, reputation, recommendations etc.

Hubby and I bought and paid for our cremation at Florida Cremation. Hoping not to have to use it for a long time! We both lost our parents and believe me, it is much easier when arrangements are done in advance. Anyway, they were professional, friendly and did not rush us as we asked a lot of questions. I just believe it was the right thing to do for our children.

We used them when my Mom died in 2012. They were very nice and kind when we were a mess. I did some research on urns and Dad saw a double one he really liked. Strange in a way as I saw it and first thought was Mom would love that one. As soon as Dad saw it he said that one. They were able to order it for us. We/I were very pleased with them. When the time comes and I hope not for a very long time that's where Dad be handled.

Curious what the price is. My mother prepaid for cremation with an Ohio company approximately $600 about 20 years ago. She is in Florida now and when I called to inquire they said just let them know who is handling the cremation and they will forward the funds. I don't think the price has gone up that much, but I could be "dead" wrong.

I think everything including 6 death certificates (probably should have ordered more...but had no idea of what would be needed) was about $1200.00. That did not include the urn.

My parents, who spent their retirement years in Bradenton, had a contract with National Cremation Society in Sarasota. My father worked with them in 1990 when my mother died, and my brother and I worked with them when my father died in 2009. They were wonderful to work with. In addition to the cremation (my father had already chosen his urn), they gave us a flag and worked with Florida National Cemetary to arrange his military service and burial beside my mother. I can't say enough about their service, and my brother and I were so grateful these arrangements had been made and paid for in advance. I need to do the same but haven't yet.

My family used this business when we lost our mom in 2009. They were professional, courteous and very nice to deal with.

Lswitt 02-14-2014 09:09 AM

Did you use national cremation or Florida cremation society? Can anyone provide a comparison?
