I have a golf question!

At a championship course two of us paid for 18 holes and were paired with two other guys. The other guys didn't show, so we ended up as just a twosome. The front nine was incredibility slow so when we made the turn we decided to get a credit for the remaining holes. The two guys at the starter shack confirmed this could be done. At the pro shop the Manager told us this wasn't done for slow play.
In hindsight I may not have made myself clear in that we were making the turn and wanted a credit for the remaining holes. We ended up playing 18 so no harm no foul but I thought it surprising that no credit was offered.

Severe weather, may get you a Rain check.

There isn’t a “Just Because Check” you choose not to play, due to I don’t like my score, broke a nail, late for lunch, or Slow Play.

My father started playing in 1942, rain check wasn’t a norm, at the club, much less I don’t feel like finishing today.

Depends.

Some Shops will give your credit.
Others, it's a power-thing and say no.

Jus say you hurt your shoulders......credit will be issued.

Sorry, manager is right. here in TX sometimes if it's just a few groups in front of you that are slow we will jump them and move on. If it's backed up on every hole your screwed.

Played in Hawaii 20 years ago and sign at the pro shop said no wind checks. Never heard of a slow play check. Agree it is annoying.

Check the rain check policy on the winter rate sheet. 18 hole play is required M-F between 8-1. Rain checks are only permitted for bad weather. Hurt shoulders do not qualify. If you think you have an aliment that will prevent you to play 18 holes, request a tee time for after 1 during the week. We live in an aged population, everyone has something that hurts.

Not my experience.

So, am I hearing you correctly? Only 2 of you were playing so you would go twice as fast as the 4 before you, and you are upset that they were slower? One idea might be not to let less than 4 play at a time.

Patience, Grasshopper, will serve you well.

TX? You mean "Texas"? This isn't Texas.

I would love that, mulligans after mulligans as long as we were not holding up folks behind us

Can never have enough golf balls so as to be able to take my mulligans

TSO/ISPF 03-18-2025 06:35 AM

Why not allow 9 holes after March

They might want to rethink their policy. Not sure how many rounds are being played right now, but I see empty holes on lots of golf courses. I
prefer to play 9 holes some days just to get some golf in. It's allowed
on Saturday and Sunday. They could do it for walk on players during the week when the number of 18-hole players allow. If they would update their tee time system to same day online reservations it would be great as well.

Having the current day information available would be great.

What does this series of words mean? It's certainly not a sentence.

When I’m a 2some on the championship courses, we just play multiple balls, do more practicing, etc. We usually play a 1 man scramble with 2 balls and play each other for a beer afterwards. My guess is that a 2 some, not running, will play in about an hour less than a foursome, I think it just feels slower than expected.

Slow play is NOT a reimburse-able condition. That’s clear.

9 hole play

Too much misinformation on this site. In 13 years I have never been denied a credit when quitting after 9 holes for several reasons (rain-slow play-or injury) and have had all of them happen. Maybe the staff person just felt sorry for me!!! LOL

Go to Golfthevillages.com for correct info. Th e following is copied directly from that site.
9-HOLE PLAY Due to the demand for 18-hole tee times, the 9-hole rate is
available before 8:00am, beginning at 1:00pm, and anytime on Saturday
and Sunday.
EARLY BIRD times are available on most days at each of our Country
Clubs (excluding Orange Blossom Hills, Tierra Del Sol, Shallow Creek and
Southern Oaks) from 7:00am – 7:20am. These are 9-hole tee times and can
only be scheduled by calling the golf shop directly (up to 3 days in advance).

Did you mean J. J. Spaun could have used a couple of mulligans at the Players’ playoff?
