Texas Road House

Went to Texas Road House yesterday around 3. Not surprised to see half our wait in the busy season. I had a coupon from vets day and my friend got the small fillet. I chose the 6 oz sirloin and had salad and fries. Steak was done perfect and my friends fillet done perfect. Service was speedy as usual. Never had a bad meal there.

I like TR also, always been crowd and noise level high, but meal was always good. One of few places around here worth returning IMO…:sigh:

JohnN 03-16-2025 12:47 PM

good place, I agree

One of our top 10!

What about...?

Sorry to hijack this thread. On the other side of the street from Texas Roadhouse is Logan's Steakhouse. I've never seen an ad or a review about this place. Is it so good it doesn't need publicity, or so bad it stays mute?

It's Longhorn Steakhouse.

LOL. I guess it does need some publicity.

When I read the first part of this post I thought it was leading up to a complaint. Thanks for the positive post!

Yes the food is very good. I downloaded their APP which allows you to see the current wait time and put your name on the wait list to save a few minutes.

My wife and I went to Longhorn Saturday. Our meals were good although the Ribeye I had wasn't the most tender. I would rate it #2 behind Texas Roadhouse.

It also has a good option for vegetarians, the Country Vegetable Plate. But if you eat the rolls and add butter, it will not be a low fat meal.

Always had a good experience at TR, it’s our go to steakhouse.
We did try Longhorns, was just ok. Their food (onion soup & steak) was a bit salty and our porterhouse was also salty and a bit on the petite size.

Freeda 03-17-2025 08:50 AM

We love it there. They also have a call ahead waitlist to shorten your time waiting for a table.

LianneMigiano 03-17-2025 10:50 AM

We agree!

We go there with some regularity and agree that we've never had a bad meal there. Personally, for my taste, they have the best steak around!

We also like Longhorn thought they do have a heavy hand with salt on occasion

Texas roadhouse food is good but wish they could do something about the noise level.

Larryandlinda 03-17-2025 12:06 PM

For the veg options are you referring to TR or Longhorns?
We sorely miss Sweet Tomato!

In all fairness, there is also a chain that resembles Texas Roadhouse that IS called Logan's Roadhouse. They are in 22 states including Texas and Florida. It is different from Longhorn Steakhouse.

I have eaten at multiple locations in multiple states of Texas Roadhouse and Logans Roadhouse. I have always enjoyed the experience.

I ate at two Longhorn's. One in Tennessee which was okay, and on in Greensboro, NC which I did not enjoy.

As with everything else subjective, YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary.

I really enjoyed sweet tomato but unfortunately my wife never cared for it.

alwann 03-17-2025 03:54 PM

I miss Sweet Tomatoes too even though it was the devil in disquise. You know what I mean. Low cal. selections followed by all you can eat desserts.

Funny, I was telling my wife the same thing when we went there and had a good experience including the manager asking as we left how things were. I said to her wonder how long before someone posts “they did not accept my coupon” or “I had terrible service (in the middle of snowbird season)” post.

The founder Kent Taylor struggled to start up the business but eventually found investors and built the first store in Indiana. Three of his first five failed.

He was known for his philanthropy and poker playing with celebrities. Unfortuantely he fell victim to Covid.

If you like the music they play you can check it out on Spotify. It also includes songs from their Artist of the month program.
