T-mobile raising prices---$5 per line----I wonder if Verizon has any better plans?

JohnN 03-17-2025 05:56 PM

try Consumer Cellular

jrref 03-17-2025 06:12 PM

Try Consumer Cellular or Visible. With Consumer Cellular you need to go to the store in Brownwood. With Visible you can do everything on-line.

Bill14564 03-17-2025 06:15 PM

Haven’t seen this on my service yet

gorillarick 03-17-2025 06:35 PM

OK, you won't believe this. $25 for 2 lines, unlimited talk and text, 6 gig data (shared).
Yes, 6-gig is plenty unless you watch movies on your little screen.

USMobile.com

Sim or e-Sim. No hand-holding at a store, but good and fast chat service.
Must have an unlocked phone.

Have had over 2-years. Never a problem, except needing help in playing musical chairs with phones. Never a problem. Uses the Verizon network.
I'm grandfathered at $25 total/mo (yes, $12.50/line).
Yours will be slightly higher, but not so much unless you gotta have infinite data, etc.

PURE TALK is another example of discount /no-hands-holding cellular providers. Almost as inexpensive as US Mobile, and good reviews.

ROCKETMAN 03-17-2025 06:37 PM

I stick with T-Mobile because they have had MLB free which is a $150.00 value. That’s major leauge baseball virtually all the games and you can load it to your iPad or tv.

Stu from NYC 03-17-2025 06:44 PM

We get netflix and email and text when out of the country on land.

vintageogauge 03-17-2025 07:53 PM

I opened a new account with T- mobile on 3/6 a week later they sent me the text raising the contract by $5.00 LOL.

jimkerr 03-18-2025 04:06 AM

No way would I change carriers. It’s only 5 bucks.

star20166@yahoo.com 03-18-2025 04:26 AM

Mint Mobile. You are welcome.

bowlingal 03-18-2025 05:11 AM

Consumer Cellular has 2 locations in the villages. Brownwood and Lake Sumter. Talk to representatives there, you just might be pleasantly surprised . No increases in the 4 years with them. great customer service, too

elevatorman 03-18-2025 05:31 AM

Mint

Mint Mobil uses T-Mobil network. Mint is owned by T-Mobil, Pay for a year in advance $180 for 5 gb. Try it for 3 months on a special offer. Attention Required! | Cloudflare
I am in my second year and have had no problems.

On a side note Ryan Reynolds owned 25% of Mint when it sold to T-Mobil for $1.3 Billion. mint mobile ryan reynolds sale - Google Search

This is TMobile’s first increase in 10 years, and it’s only $5. We’re perfectly fine with it.

RoseyRed 03-18-2025 07:00 AM

You may want to check out Spectrum. We got a promotion where the cell service is free for 1st year then goes to $30 per month! They even had a rep to come to our house to port the number over, so we did not have to deal with wait times in the Spectrum store! They won my business! :coolsmiley::coolsmiley:

Patriot Mobil, they are a Godly owned company that believes in my values and doesn't support wokeness like the companies listed here. Know where your money goes to support.

asianthree 03-18-2025 08:05 AM

Sprint was our first cellular in 2004, T-Mobile bought them in 2018. Our last increase was from Sprint was 2013, Four phones $93.00 month.

T-Mobile retained the same cost, until April 2025, next month billing. Only 2 lines are being billed the $5, other 2 are free. I get too many perks along with MLB, for phone or Device’s.

Our phone use for conference calls, business meetings, is well worth the $10 increase. Plus 2 lines gets a new phone every 2 years, for minimal cost

5:00somewhere 03-18-2025 08:09 AM

Why aren't you using Consumer Cellular?

Why aren't you using Consumer Cellular? I've used them for years, They use many of the same cell towers as Verizon or ATT. The costs for everything less than #35 for TWO LINES unlimited talk.

jrref 03-18-2025 08:29 AM

Don't bundle your phones with the cable company. The deal they give you looks good and it is for a short time then you start playing the negotiation game every year. They give you a "good" deal on the phones but are making it up on the other services they are charging you for.

There are so many "discount" cell phone providers like Mint, Visible, Consumer Cellular and others either giving the same exact or better deal than the cable companies.

Don't get fooled by the cable company. Just be aware of other options when making your decision.

Life has grown too short to waste any of it chasing cost savings that are just temporary anyway.

Ptmcbriz 03-18-2025 08:49 AM

I can’t imagine going through the pain of changing carriers for $5 a month. No thank you.

Mrprez 03-18-2025 08:54 AM

We are on the Magenta 55+ plan. $70 for 2 lines including taxes. I called T-Mobile and was assured that my rate was not going up. Before switching, I’d call them first.

It's actually very simple these days. With some carriers you can do it on-line!

Switched from Verizon to Visible. Less money and same service. Very satisfied.

We’ve had Mint Mobile for 4 years- $15 a month, never a problem. Not sure why anyone pays more for cell service.

Maybe length of time you have been active. We have never switched to senior or special offers because nothing comes close to our cost.
Our increase is for only 2 out of 4 lines. Just received a text that I can add Fifth line for zero increase on monthly rate. Waiting for what phone will be available. Our plan 5 phones $103.47 unlimited text and minutes, plus MLB, upgrade 2 Phones. With the increase.

He said we were grandfathered in to our current rate. Not sure why.

daniel200 03-18-2025 07:19 PM

I got the notice from t-mobile about the $5 per month increase.

The next day I called T-Mobile support and asked why I received the notice of the increase when I have a legacy TMobile One plan with life lock on price. The support person needed to go offline for 5 minutes to verify my plan. She returned, apologized and verified that I am on a legacy plan and would not see the price increase.

The whole experience was less than 10 minutes

Not enough for us and we do not watch movies on our little screen.

Exactly, grown very tired of renegotiating every year. Finally fired xfinity for life. Now using mint mobile and quantum fiber. Couldn’t be happier.

Nothing wrong with finding out what others have gotten before calling vendor
