Atomic Kool Karts?
Mrs. EDJ is thinking she might like an Atomic Kool Kart. The A/C and solid side surfaces appeal to her. She's on the shorter side, just below 5-foot.
Anyone have thoughts or insights on these karts? TIA |
Currently three for sale on the Classifieds. I looked and could not tell (was not in the description or pics) if they have adjustable seats but I thought they did? She will have the same issue in a golf cart unless she has the optional adjustable seats and or gets the back support or the pedal extensions. I thought it might be cool to have one.

The seats are adjustable. Several threads on the Atomic.

Consider the doors if she wants to go golfing....

Atomic
Yes, they make it through all of the tunnels but you have to proceed slowly through some of them and know where your tires are relative to the curb which takes practice. It's a bit unnerving going over the old bridge to Orange Blossom and the narrow path on the north side of Harmswood. She will appreciate the Atomic more when the weather is hot, cold, or rainy. Plus, it will not stink up the tunnels with fumes. For a non-golfer, I would say the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

These Atomic Kool Kart do not belong on our golf cart trails. While I was cursing at 19-20 mph, I had one tail gating me the other day and it felt like I had a car on my tail... The experience was intimidating, and these mini cars using our golf cart and walking trails should be addressed by The Villages.

I tell anyone who asks that I love my Atomic. She is a cart and goes anywhere a cart can go, but in comfort. She has adjustable seats, seatbelts, as well as air, heat, back-up camera, a windshield wiper and plenty of room for groceries, chairs and what have you. We use our regular cart for golf but have seen plenty of atomics on the golf course.

No problem with the doors and golf
I play 2 to 3 times per week |

We own one it's mainly for my wife and she loves it. It's great for the cold and really hot weather. She is also short and loves driving it. We use our Yamaha for Golf.

Just this week, I have seen two unoccupied on the side of the path. They looked fairly new, so not sure about their reliability.

Atomic has several different models. I’m not sure which one you are looking at. My wife has the coupe. She is petite and the seat is adjustable so there are no issues there. The range at about 60 miles (probably more like 50 with the AC on) is more than sufficient. She has the golf package (golf bag rack and turf friendly tires) and does use it to play golf but a regular golf cart is a bit more convenient. There have been no issues with the cart.

Your issue is with the driver and not the golf cart. Would you have felt better is you were being tailgated by a Yamaha?

Never buy an electric cart!

Just pay attention to your battery and we never charge while sleeping or when away. You can check them out, they let you take a test drive. I was against at first. Took the test drive and loved it. Got a good price. They negotiated a little down. Check into a used one. |

I agree! After experiencing how uncomfortable it was on the path outside Harmeswood and the northern tunnels, I had my Atomic coupe made "street legal" immediately. I never had a problem on the streets as long as I stayed in the right-hand lane. You're even allowed to CROSS the CRs 466, 466A, 401, etc. where there are signals. Highly recommend STREET LEGAL.

Absolutely no problem with doors on the golf course. Many of my friends ask to ride with me when it’s hot, cold, or rainy. No canvas to worry about flapping around. Belongings are securely locked inside when inside a business. Room for the dog !
|
I too am considering an Atomic cart, street legal, for local use and occasional trips to Orlando and perhaps Atlanta.
thoughts appreciated. |

We bought one a year ago mainly for me because I had trouble using the Yamaha gas pedal with my arthritic right knee. I also wanted the AC. We both love it, and it’s mostly the only cart we use during summer months. AC is great! Seats aren’t as comfy as our upgraded Yamaha bucket seats, so we don’t use it for long distances, but for local driving down here in the south, or trips as far as LSL it’s great. If anyone is being tailgated by a cool kart blame the driver, not the cart. We are passed far more by Yamaha gas carts than any other kind when we’re out and about even though our cool cart can go 27 mph.
