Piesanos. Southern Trace.

A Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza is coming soon to where the Beef O'Bradys used to be in Southern Trace. What is good at Piesanos? Piesano's has all your favorite pizzas and pastas Going to be hard picking them over Jersey Mike's or NYPD Pizza.

retiredguy123 04-14-2025 12:56 PM

The ultra thin crust pizza (with anchovies).

Pizza is so personal that anyone opinion may not help you decide. For us we grew up with family owned businesses and restaurants that made owners proud. It’s a chain, depends on who is having a good day making pizza. It’s just a 8 shift, no love of the product needed. Is it great for us no, we tried 3 times multiple items, nothing we would get again.

But you will find many who will tell you it’s the best pizza they have ever had. You choose doesn’t mean you chose poorly or wisely, cause your opinion is the only one that counts

retiredguy123 04-14-2025 01:01 PM

My issue with pizza is that they add too much cheese, and they do not use a consistent, mandated recipe. Piesanos does neither.

Nice answer. Thanks.

I like Marco’s pepperoni magnifico. Only pizza for me worth going back for around here. and it’s only 10 bucks for large. NY pizza right up road. To each their own tastes. I will say Costco’s coming along quickly when I went by their other day.

I agree. The only problem is we take the down to it and now it’s going to be in our backyard, so to speak. Love Piesanos!

Get out! Do they really have anchovies? I love anchovies on a plain cheese pizza.

My late mother-in-law et moi, the anchovy queens.

Anchovy: A small, cured, salted, stinky, bait fish in vinegar. An aphrodisiac!

Skip

Love Piesano’s! My favorite dish there is chicken piccata and my significant other claims their spaghetti and meatballs is the best. (I really like their pizza, too.)

dlebuis 04-15-2025 06:21 AM

My husband loves their calzones. I’m gluten free and their cauliflower pizza is good.

And my late mother. The only pizza delivery or pick up order I have ever had a call back on to confirm was when my mom was visiting and she got her own small cheese pizza with double anchovies. Long ago memory. Thanks for making me smile.

And pizza is very personal. We eat different kinds but really want the places we go to have consistent pizza if their type. Good luck finding your favorite.

msilagy 04-15-2025 08:24 AM

If you like pizza that doesn't hang like a damp rag (NY pizza) then you'll like Pisano's pizza.

They by far have the best pizza in the villages.

It’s all a matter of opinion, Sammy Joe’s gets our vote as the best in the Villages.

I have never had Sammy Joe's. Just a moment...

When we had company we would often go to Flipper's.

We used to go to flipper’s, but Marcos is now closer. It’s a chain also, not as good as family owned, but better than every pizza we have tried at least once. Then again we only have pizza 6-8 times a year.

maistocars 04-15-2025 11:28 AM

Great pizza - nice and crispy! We've tried almost all of them and none like Piesano's.

Stu from NYC 04-15-2025 12:11 PM

Piesanos garlic rolls are very good

Piesanos is a full menu italian restaurant. You cannot compare a sub shop to Piesanos.
NYPD Pizza also has a few other options other than pizza but not to the degree of Piesanos. The choice of Piesanos over others mentioned should be easy.

This husband agrees with your husband, their calzones are some of the best I've had.

Dotneko 04-15-2025 01:25 PM

We both dislike Piesanos pizza. Even the thin crust. We have tried it 3 times, so we gave them an honest chance. But truly not wasting another nickel there.

Prima makes a pretty good pizza. None compare to Regina in the North End of Boston.

We cannot get the pizza we used to get in NY and do not expect it any more

Old Traveller 04-15-2025 05:04 PM

Marco's has excellent crust.

Best pizza in North America is Punch Pizza in St Paul Minnesota. The owner spent a year in Naples Italy to learn out how to make the perfect pizza. He uses water buffalo cheese and imports his tomato sauce from Naples. That tomato sauce comes from tomatoes grown in the local volcanic soil.

Chamo 04-15-2025 06:36 PM

People do not know pizza if you think this is good. It’s ok for pizza but come on people please

I spent 5.5 years in the Twin Cities and found the people very friendly. May go back for a visit some time. I was there from 1986 to late 1991 while getting a law degree at the U of MN Law School and also working for a short time in the History and Travel Department of the Central Minneapolis Public Library as well as at the University of Minnesota Law Library and as a Legal Assistance to Minneapolis Prisoners Student Co-Director for Minnesota Correctional Facility -Stillwater. And then writing everyone I could think of in the Fall of 1991 about problems I saw in the delivery of practical information to those people pulled into the legal system about their rights and the services available to them. And the problems I found trying to say something about that hole. People in Minnesota were some of the most helpful when I wrote them in 1992 when I had a better idea about whom to contact.

If you did not come from a place like NY that served great pizza how would one know that what we get here is not on the same level

barbara828 04-15-2025 10:13 PM

Everything EXCEPT the pizza. Born, raised Queens. Then NJ. Never had any of what they call NYpizza. It's toast, not pizza.

We got the Marcos pepperoni pizza in 2024 for $10, but now in 2025 they’re charging us $12. Still a decent deal though.

Nana2Teddy 04-16-2025 07:02 AM

We get pasta at Piesano’s, not pizza. I like the Bolognese sauce with rigatoni or spaghetti. Hubby likes spaghetti with meatballs and bolognese sauce. We prefer Marcos for pizza.

jim@jedward.com 04-16-2025 07:18 AM

Piesano's is awful pizza. Takes three hands to hold it. So greasy you can wring it out. I'm sure New Yorkers love it.

WingedFoot78 04-16-2025 07:30 AM

What does this have to do with pizza?

IMHO? nothing. then again i refuse to acknowledge O.G. as an italian joint. it's the heritage, I have a restaurant background and I am picky

As a previous poster mentioned, pizza is a very personal choice as to style and type. I like all the varieties (a little less with "Chicago style"). We happen to like Piesano's as well. Looking forward to one closer to us.

Jersey Mike's is not a Pizza Joint. In my opinion, Piesano's has the best pizza in The Villages. They also have good Italian dishes. Of course, this is my humble opinion.

Olive Garden is OK but does not seem like Italian food.

Piesano's has subs. As does Jersey Mikes.
