Golf cart snaps, yipsters, $90 service call, ugh

2 snaps, ugh, options……?…

I know I have seen replacement snaps, now I need to remember where. As I recall these come with a tool to install, so this would be a DIY or handyman project. You might check with the local Hobby Lobby and possibly Harbor Freight or ACE hardware.

Amazon sells replacement snap kits.

JoelJohnson 05-26-2025 05:15 PM

I got the kit at ACE. They also have extra snaps.

Hard to get anybody to come to residents for less than 100 bucks for anything. If that includes the cost of snaps and repair and you can’t do it I say that fair deal, not 1965…. business has overhead financial costs. Plus they have to eat too.

jbartle1 05-27-2025 04:19 AM

I’ve bought DIY kit, the “Y” is not working, I know business need to eat BUT “FEASTING” is a bit MUCH.
Two “itty bitty snaps” top flapping in the wind, guess I’ll live with it. What ever happened to a business doing good will, making a pass by when you have another job close by and charging accordingly, ugh!

This is one of many reasons I’m glad I bought my cart at The Villages Golf Cars. I stopped by to make an appointment to get a couple of snaps fixed. The person outside said, “I can take care of that.” She fixed it in seconds. She said “stop by any time you have a snap problem and we can take care of it on the spot.”

PGApromike 05-27-2025 05:04 AM

How many snaps you need? I have the kit and some snaps. The newer quick release snaps are much better but cost about $7 each. Live in Newell if interested message me.

Amazon sells them with everything you need including the tools. I have fixed several for myself and friends.

Amazon

asianthree 05-27-2025 05:34 AM

Any of the villages golf carts store does it for free. Just walk in to the very nice ladies at the service desk, and they will come out and fix the snaps.

HOWEVER, tip them at least $2 per snap. For 2 snaps I would give them $5. But that just me.

One of the many reasons! Same thing for me a few years back.

Todd Casey (352 256-2068) has been servicing my golf carts for 20 years. He includes snap repairs with each service appointment.

I enjoy a morning swim at local pool, and last count was 2 noodles I’ve donated to road kill, from those naughty noodles escaping from snapless cart, giggle snort

Dave951 05-27-2025 01:38 PM

I have a snap-tool. It installs both the studs and the snaps. I am in Tamarind Grove

Some good quality self adhesive Velcro might do the trick.

I thought we paid $50 service call last time to a place on rt.441.
It was for one location and ok to have several carts.
So we reached out to some neighbors to see if anyone else had snap needs and there were several very willing to join in for the call.

However, I am going to look into that Amazon kit that one poster mentioned.

If you bought your cart at The Villages Golf Carts, all you need to do is pull up to the service bay and someone will replace it. No appointment is necessary and no charge. A snap pulled out of the plastic molding on my cart and they replaced it in minutes.

KennyP 05-31-2025 12:36 PM

When your dealing with a repair like that its difficult for any shop to do it for free.
As some stated, just wait till you have some other work needed.
Obviously. if you drive it to someone, there is little to no cost
