And the prices are about half what you pay in the other stores. |

There isn’t anything baked wise I would buy at Aldi, WD, or Publix. If we eat carbs, whole grain bread from TJ’s or their scones, which a loaf of bread or 4 scones lasts us 4-6 weeks. We don’t eat much processed food. The sugar alone in Aldi bakery for one item is more than we would eat in a week. |

Where the Winn Dixie in Sumter Landing was. |
I read an article that Aldi is the worst food chain for meat while Sprouts is the best

I believe most are talking about the one in Sumter, replacing the WD. But there is a second one, also replacing a WD, on the south west corner of 48 & 27. The south road entrance to Floridas Turnpike and south of Carters Ave Hardware. Not golf cart accessible, but convenient when in that area. |

I buy milk, eggs, coffee creamer, at Aldi. All are about 2 bucks cheaper than Publix, Winn-Dixie. Then shop the frozen section for different items. Last two weeks had Wisconsin Cheese Curds 5 bucks for box. Great cheddar cheese and not much coating. Aldi employees make on average 5 bucks an hour more than Winn-Dixie, that is for checkout jobs. Publix maybe make a buck more than Dixie. I only know this because I worked at Publix 19 years and my wife worked Dixie. Pay scales clearly posted in break rooms. I know checkout lady at Aldi and they can sit down whole shift. Sometimes they have to stock shelves but that’s it, used to unload trucks but not anymore.

Leesburg News has a big article relating to that today.

no date yet according to today's Daily Sun

The Aldi availableity is great. Frozen vegetables are inexpensive and no " stuff" added to them. Fresh produce and other items are good. Grateful we have a few Aldi stores in area. Grateful we can still afford groceries.

We're aldi fans as well. Heard that there will be a July opening. Don't buy the unhealthy items. Be selective and you can use Aldi as an adjunct to your food shopping and save some $$$$.

ALDi now open at LSL

Publix
According to Don Wiley who usually knows what’s going on, no Publix in Eastport or Middleton. Magnolia Plaza Publix will be crazy busy next sno bird season.

There's a lot of grocery store snobs here, but the Aldi's produce is the same quality as everybody else, but cheaper. Some of the vendor's on Saturday at Brownwood are Aldi secret shoppers.

Fresh salmon is good, so is frozen, cooked shrimp, many cheeses and dips, ground coffee, crackers, etc. And yes, unfortunately, one of the downsides to some farmers markets is that some of the produce is grocery store-bought and resold at the markets. |

TJ’s bread will not keep for long for lack of additives and preservatives. My guess is you have never frequented a family owned bakery, to realize all products such as breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, and gluten free donuts are labeled just as in any grocery. Reason it provides those with food allergies, even though they are non chain, certain product ingredients are mandatory, or the need to keep their customers safe. Our bakeries have label their ingredients over 15 years. However the list is very short, additives and preservatives are not used. All dairy gluten free items are made first to ensure no cross contamination. We have been using the same bakery since 1960. It’s nice to have the owner know all 4 generations, by first name, and make a special item just for you. Our granddaughter who is severely lactose intolerant, brought donuts and bread for her visit to us last week. Owner made a new donut for me, double packed separately labeled with ingredients sticker. He said “hug your grandparents for me”, and when you return I will perfected gluten/dairy free special donut just for you |
Went to Aldi's today. I will have to get used to how they do things there. This was the one in Sumter Landing. Had to get a reminder that you need a quarter to get a grocery cart but a few of them had the quarter still in them .
And thanks to the nice person who bought me a Coca-Cola. She seemed to know who I was but I did not want to bring up stuff in a setting like a grocery store. I am assuming she is familiar with Talk of the Villages. I had put it on the conveyor belt on my side with a divider but somehow the cashier put it on the bill of the lady behind me. |
