The Villages Golf Cars Magnolia Plaza Replacement

Hi,

I saw today that on 07/21 The Magnolia Location of The Villages Golf Cars is moving to Eastport. Are there any active rumors about what might go in that space in Magnolia Plaza?

Effective 7/21

Good spot for a larger restaurant (Cheddar's, Olive Garden, Claim Jumper, etc.). Separate from the main strip center and with its own parking so you're not fighting with the grocery store's parking lot like Reveille's does.

Bad news - Like the location for me! The building most likely will become an Automotive repair/tire store. The building would be quite expensive to retrofit for retail or restaurants. However, there are some people that are extremely creative that may come up with something different.

Come in and get your oil changed and tires rotated while you enjoy lunch, cocktails optional...

That would be wonderful. Can’t wait. </sarcasm>

Guessing developers had a business in mind once they moved down to Eastport. It’s a big showroom, with little service space. Maybe they will move their golf cart seat store off 44. Tire or mechanic shop won’t work, without major overhaul.

The reason for no gas pumps was because of 7-11. That I highly doubt. The next business didn’t need pumps. It’s a prime location, developers has something in mind.

About a year ago I posted this information either here or on FB. I was told that I was wrong.

I didn't see it a year ago, but happy to tell you today that you were right.

Zoning probably won’t allow it with Publix being right there.

Hope no one is expecting quick service from the Magnolia service department. We have been waiting for over 2 weeks now for them to pick up our cart for repair! We stopped by yesterday and was told they are closed at Magnolia Plaza due to moving to Eastport.

Add this to that rumor mill you live on.
HOOTERS is so excited to announce their second location in The Villages, at the Magnolia Plaza. In between the lunch and dinner shifts the girls will be delivering groceries and prescriptions in a partnership with Publix.
Mr. Hooter, the CEO of Hooters said that the company’s long term plans include taking over the entire Magnolia Plaza. In 2026 the name will be changed to HOOTERS PLAZA.

Hopefully they replace it with more restaurant options

Ace Hardware would be good.

I would love to see an ACE hardware close by. I make many trips to the Wildwood store!

The Fifth Ave Streatery, in Mt Dora, is an old gas station that they turned into an outdoor restaurant. You're on a corner of two main streets, (outdoor seating only) but the food was very good. Worth the money!

Babbs1957 07-18-2025 07:58 AM

Maybe Hooters can take the building and provide additional services.

polirudb 07-18-2025 08:18 AM

I heard from my barber they are turning the space into one bedroom apartments...

[QUOTE=VAtoFLA;2446277]Hi,

This is not great news, Magnolia Plaza was just a few minutes away from my home!

ByebyeMichigan 07-18-2025 09:33 AM

Stop with the nonsense……people believe what they read on here. Not called for ……

Pretty sure that that commenter was joking. There isn't even a TJ's in metro Ocala which has a population of over 375,000.

Rodneysblue 07-18-2025 10:58 AM

Ewww, I love a good rumor.

It's not set up for a restaurant. It would take millions of dollars and a year or longer for the permitting/buildout to turn it into a restaurant.

Bwanajim 07-18-2025 07:30 PM

Restaurant!

PLEASE put in a nice restaurant! I'll even settle for an Applebee's or Longhorn steakhouse if I have to!
Or a good sushi place would be great!!

Since when do they pick up carts? We’ve always had to drive ours to the service dept at Magnolia, and then they gave us a loaner until our cart was ready. Hubby called Magnolia service dept today and got no response so he made a service appt at the Brownwood store. Soonest availability was early August. They confirmed Magnolia is closing.

The Trader Joe's thing was a joke, I'm sure.

Most every court in the USA faced with the question, has ruled that "Zoning" cannot consider "competition" as a legitimate zoning consideration.

While I realize the TJ’s comment was a joke I will add that we lived five minutes from a shopping center in SoCal that had a Ralph’s Supermarket and Trader Joe’s market just a couple of doors apart from each other. It was awesome! Miss both of those a lot.
