best place for an oil change

I know this has been hashed over and over but for one last time where would you go to get a perfect oil change. A place where they would not overfill. A place that just charges a fair price and a place that wont try to sell you a bunch of stuff you dont realy need. We need to build a good guys list . One of my main dislikes is when i go somewhere and the next day i check my oil after the car sits all nite and the level is a quarter inch or more above the full mark. Even when i tell them how much it takes to fill it.They still put too much in. Any suggestions where to go?

Walmart on 466 - go hit a bucket of balls at the Buffalo Junction driving range while you are waiting.

See my post...

about Michael's Auto Repair. I believe he told me an oil change would cost something like $28.

Tire Choice on over by Golden Corral. They are good, rotate tires as part of the change and give you a discount on the next one.

Many "bargain" oil changes do NOT include a new filter. Why bother to pay for new, clean oil if you didn't get a new, clean filter? Most garages do not allow the vehicle owner to watch the work being done. In the old days it was easier to see the filter by just popping the hood, in some cases. Not so now in most newer vehicles. In our experience the ONLY way to know if you actually got a new filter is to do the change yourself or find a garage you really trust. Since Hubby is a fanatic when it comes to car maintenance he still does most oil changes himself. His cost is less than $20, filter included, and he KNOWS the job was done correctly. He disposes of used oil at Wal-mart.

We use Hilton Automotive - just N of Cty 42 on the west side of the road. Honest - good people!

I agree that we need a "good guys" list. Doctors, restaurants, hair salons, etc. It's trial and error usually. It would help if we had an angie's list for this area.

I've used Tire Choice near Walmart several time. No problems. I have had occasion to, in effect, test them. Once, I had the check engine light come on. I had no idea why, so I took it there for diagnosis. Could have been an expensive engine problem, but turned out to be a loose, or leaky gas cap. Only cost me the diagnostic charge. They could have told me almost anything. Another time I asked for an alignment check. They told me everything was fine. They could have done an alignment and charged me. I wouldn't have known the difference. As with any place, sometimes things happen.

Beware of Tire Choice

One friend was sold a bill of goods about needing to change all his fluids when he went for an oil change. Another was told he needed brakes when having tires installed, he took the car to another garage where he was told the brakes would be fine for many more miles and were not even close to needing to be replaced.

Amazing, I must be lucky, have gone to Tire Choice since they opened near Wal Mart on 466. Bought tires (needed based on my observation of wear before a long trip), many oil changes over the years as well as an alignment check with the new tires. Never had anyone push extras on me. I maintained my farm trucks and tractors in my former life so am reasonably familiar with needed services. Have no complaints with Tire Choice and will continue to go there.

Oil change

I took my truck to George Nahas Chevrolet on State Road 44 in Wildwood. They were very professional. Oil/filter and chassis lube, plus multi-point inspection. Total after tax, $33.65. Great waiting room (free coffee).
Highly recommend.

auto Repair

Fruitland Park Auto repair is tops. They are on 441 west side and are all brothers who really know the business and very fair priced.

ford of ocala

Stay away from Ford of Ocala, the Belleview branch. Do not trust them. Bad time with them. Stay Away, Danger.

How often is everyone changing oil?

I only change mine [by the manufacturer's recommendation] every 10,000 miles. Therefore, I just go back to the dealer for the change. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but I never have to worry if it was done correctly. Plus, if there's any other warranty work or small recall maintenance to be done, it gets done at the same time.

This is a more expensive option and I have to drive to Orlando to visit my dealer. But, that means I can visit the Apple store ... ;)

I like Napa Service Center near Stonecrest (hwy 441/27).
