New Costco, Come on Down!

My wife and I just set up our Kirkland folding chairs (purchased at Costco Clermont) and are number 1 and 2 in line, ready for the big grand opening tomorrow. We have Costco snacks, Kirkland water, and everything we need to keep us comfortable through the night. Come join us. Rumor has it the first ten customers through the doors get a free hot dog, not sure if it includes the drink. :pepper2:

If this is a legit post, please follow up tomorrow afternoon with what, if any, perks you received for being #'s 1 and 2. Curious.
We were within first dozen of a Buc-ee's grand opening once and received free t-shirts.

New Englander 08-05-2025 03:01 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if people camped out over night like they do when Apple's new iPhone is available.

I hope you have some heavy duty umbrellas.

asianthree 08-05-2025 03:49 PM

We had late lunch at Tap. There are more than a few milling around the entrance of Costco.

Southwest737 08-06-2025 05:06 AM

Maybe you will get free t-shirts with a big L on them.

USOTR 08-06-2025 05:16 AM

That is just crazy..

Wife and I were 233 & 234 in line for yesterdays Villagers only sneak peak at Eastport.
We received free bottled water and a pen! Each!
WINNING BIGGLIE

MX rider 08-06-2025 06:32 AM

I pray I never get to the point in life where I get that excited for a store to open. Actually, I can't think of anything I would wait outside all night for. We have a life.

OK ..... While you are waiting in line I went and bought a $5 lottery ticket and won a hundred bucks.

Please post something like this daily! I am cracking up at how so many people have either lost their sense of humor (never had?) Or are that naive!

RustyandEthel 08-06-2025 08:01 AM

Just opened a few minutes ago. Sad to report my wife Ethel has been crushed by the crowd and shopping carts. I will report back if I find her.

Nana2Teddy 08-06-2025 08:07 AM

I’m reading this thread while still in my comfy bed and I’m definitely excited about finally getting a new Costco much closer to home, but happy to go later today or even “horrors” on another day soon because crowds are not my thing. We love Costco! Thanks for the laughs in this thread. Y’all are so fun! :D

I’m not sure my hubby of 47 years would even notice I’m missing, haha. Good luck!

Lottoguy 08-06-2025 08:17 AM

We were 8th and 9th in line when the doors opened just a few minutes ago. We both got upgraded air in our tires if we buy a new set next week. We also got a secret route map to Costco from any direction. It's too early for the hot dog so we decided to just get the free sample of dog food, very yummy, the free book on affordable cremations, and the crackers with faux lobster.

MrFlorida 08-06-2025 08:37 AM

It's not Black Friday is it ?

Miboater 08-06-2025 08:43 AM

I'm celebrating the grand opening by going to the Clermont store after dropping my wife off at the airport. I'm looking forward to going to the new location but staying away for at least a few weeks.

Bruceg0028 08-06-2025 09:31 AM

We had a friend who was one of the 1st at Arby’s on 466a grand opening and they received a card for a free classic combo meal every week for a year. BURP!!!

What a night and what a day! It was hot, we got wet, but it was worth every minute of it! The people in line with us were great, except for numbers 3 and 4 who unfortunately sat next to us all night. Numbers 5 and 6 ended up leaving early because of them. We each got a beautiful gold plated charm for being #1 and #2 (see picture). We hardly slept, but just bought a two pack of Sealy pillows that were on sale for $23.99 to replace our current 18 year old pillows, so tonight will be better. We stocked up on all the essentials, including the 30 roll pack Kirkland Signature Bath Tissues ($24.99). We got to taste most of the samples (didn’t see the dog food) and bought two rotisserie chickens ($4.99 each, one for tonight, one for Saturday). When we left the store with our purchases, we realized we did not have enough room in our golf cart for all we purchased. We ended up giving away 28 rolls of toilet paper to 28 total strangers, and kept two for ourselves. My wife went back in the store and is waiting for me to get home, empty the cart, and go back and pick her up. We were too late for the secret map out of Costco, apparently they only gave those out to the first 100 customers leaving the store. I am currently number 17 waiting to make a right turn out of the parking lot. I will keep you posted.

I camped out overnight at the Rose Parade one year. If you haven't experienced that at least once in your life, you do not have a life.

You know nothing about me, I wouldn't go to that if I had free tickets! Not my thing, but to each their own.

Good for the OP. They had some fun plus received a to be "treasured" keepsake. The POX on those who poo-pooed you as they sat at their keyboards grumping away the evening.

Uh, the gold wienie for around your necks seems appropriate and the rest of the junk one can purchase anytime and if your wife had to wait for you to come back with the car, why would you give the TP away. Something doesn't smell right..

I camped out at the Rose Parade too. And went to the Rose Bowl game the next day. This was a once in a lifetime experience. The grand marshal was Frank Sinatra.

Good question, shows you are paying attention. The reason we had to get rid of the toilet paper is a follows... When we realized we didn't have room for everything, we decided to buy a set of four Firestone tires. We really didn't need the tires, our brand new car has less than 6,000 miles on it, but they had a $60.00 rebate so we decided what the heck! If you see someone driving a white golf cart with four Firestone tires strapped to the back, that's me. Stop me if you see us, we just bought a tray of 60 Kirkland Signature Cookies ($26.09) and will be happy to share some with you; it will take us a year to go through them but the price was right! By the way, I am still trying to get back to pick her up. Even the multi modal paths leading to Costco are backed up! There is a twenty minute wait for hotdogs and over an hour for pizza. According to my wife, it is almost impossible to get a free sample/tasting of anything. Several of the employees working the sample carts have already quit. I will keep you posted, have a nice day.
