Saw the aftermath of an accident on Odell yesterday. Golfcart on it's side and someone lying on the ground. What happened? Hope the are o.k......just terrible for these things to happen.

I know we couldn't take a left out of the Odell Rec center because of the incident. That was around 4 PM. Someone said that a golf cart was involved, and that someone died. But I didn't hear if there were more than one vehicle, or other people involved.

According to this there was no fatality.

Poster linked a site of the forbidden on this site. The site stated it was a golf cart that turned left in front of a vehicle. It appears there was a cart path but to make the left turn the cart had to enter the road shared with vehicles and make the left turn (typically found in the Villages).

Went golfing and lunch with one of our friends. She told us the story, was going to Odell to pick up her husband there. Came upon the accident shortly after the crash. She saw the man on the road and parked and got out of her car quickly. There was a small group of people looking at the injured man but NONE of them went to the man to comfort him. She went to him and held his hand, talked to him to comfort him and tell him that help was on the way. They exchanged names. He said he was 82 and had some surgeries recently. I think she said a hip replacement or such and other maladies. She stayed with him until the ambulance came. He told her to tell the crew to be careful placing him on the gurney as he is in pain. I think he asked her to call his wife too.
SHAME on those folks just looking and him from a distance and not going to him. SHAME. If that was me I would have chided those folks royally. grrrrr

I have wondered that too. I suspect because TOTV is a private website and the other site competes with the sunny side of this site? Funny, to get actual news you have to go to the dark side.

Failure to yield right of way for the golf cart.

Wake up people, this is as golf cart community!

I am not going to pretend that I know the circumstances of this particular accident. That being said, I will say that I have noticed more and more drivers of golf carts thinking they have the right of way over automobiles. Many of them, oblivious to conditions on the road. Each time I enter a gate I have to be extremely careful because so many golf cart drivers seem to think they have the right away and they drive right in front of vehicles entering the gates.

Are you saying it was NOT the golf cart driver's fault?
